    I went and dunnit!

Glad to hear that you got one & she's a looker! I have a plain jane 51 Pietta & she shoots like a house 'a fire. My usual load for accuracy is about 25-27 grains of 3f BP with a 454 ball. At about 15 yards she shoots about 7 inches high, but with a lil Kentucky windage, I can put the resulting...

Max Load for a 1858 New Model Army

In that case, you would do well with a Colt Walker for heavy loads & the '58 for target loads. Brass don't hold up too good with repeated heavy loads.

    ASM?

The first C&B I owned is an ASM 1851. The only problem I ever had was a worn out trigger from shooting. After I replaced it, I just kept on shooting it! So far its been 12 years & MANY hundred rounds & still going strong.

    Uberti walker kit

Sometimes its better to just buy the finished gun. If this is your first time working with revolver kits, you might wanna start with a brass framed gun. They usually have all the steel parts blued & just need the grips to be finished & the brass frame sanded & polished. Mind you, a Dremel is a...

Max Load for a 1858 New Model Army

I have 2 brass framed '58s. from what I seen max charges don't do much for accuracy but do add wear & tear. I usually get the best accuracy with charges below 30 grains. Somewhere around 22-27 grains work very well in both of my '58 bison revs.

    1851 Navy

Don't worry you're not alone. I started the same way & now I have 2 '51s, 2 '58s (bison), & a 3rd model Dragoon. All of em happen to be 44 cal which gives me an excuse to get a few 36 cals  . Be careful, The C&B flu is REALLY EASY to catch!

    Howdy from WAY South!

Hello all. been lurking here for a while & decided to introduce myself. My name is Leo & I hail from Miami Fl. I been shooting coal burners since I was 18 & I can't get enough of it! C&B revolvers seem to be my favorite, but I also have quite a few smokepoles too. My latest endeavor is...
