This came in for a new hammer spring. After looking it over I think it is more modern than it appears. First the castings have not been finished all the way, flashing not filed off. Next the trigger and hammer pins are cast as part of the frame and the bore seems to be cast in place. Cast appears to be mild steel, I machined the hammer and trigger pin so they would be strait and round ( this was fun). While the trigger has a space for a "V" spring there is no notch to hold the spring in place and a coil spring is used. After turning the pins round I made bushings for the trigger and hammer, now things work the way they should. The only factory machine work I could detect was the nipple hole and one screw hole.
Any ideas who made this little Gem. Looks like something Dixie might have sold.

I think you hit it right on the head with the Dixie Gunworks guess. They probably sold thousands of those little guns. It was sold under some kind of derringer heading. Might have been based on a old one but I don't know that much about derringers. It is a cute little thing though :grin:

Well ,now that is just nifty. I've thought about a screw barrel pistol for my shooting bag, but that is much more suitable. Thanks. :thumbsup:
