    I have bent my own shotguns sucsessfully....depends on the grain and type of wood. English bends better than black. There is a great article in a back issue of american gunsmith that covers the how too's. I'd be glad to look it up for you if you like. It worked for me. Steve

    stocks can most definatley be bent, and usually no need to refinish. Its all about the set up and letting the heat fully pentrate the wrist. This is not that hard to do. Steve

    Soldering help

    It sounds to me that you are not getting the pieces hot enough before intoducing the solder. I like 50/50 solder and find that it flows very well with a bit of non corrosive flux, if you get everything hot enough. Try heating the back side of the part and allowing the heat to soak in, this also...

    Tung Oil

    too get tung oil to dry quickly, I like to add a drop or two of japan dryer and place the stock in my rusting box with the light on and no water. It really speeds things up. You can get a very nice deep finishing using tung oil, but its lots of work. Steve

    The best way I know to get it back to round is to turn different size plugs on a lathe, starting with one that wil just fit. Then take a brass or copper hammer and tap on the "high" spots. Tap easy it doesnt take much force at all.When the plug losens up turn another that just fits and continue...
