    Minie ball lube.

Must be a pretty cool moustache.

    Minie ball lube.

I've never tried that. Always thought it might contaminate some powder.

    Minie ball lube.

Thanks. I do use a mix of bees wax and crisco, but was thinking Alox would be less messy but probably better though.

    Minie ball lube.

I used to use Lee Liquid Alox when casting for .308 and .303 Brit. Just wondering if it would also work for lead Minie's. Has anyone ever tried it? Would be less messy for sure. Thanks

    Mississippi rifle cartridges w/ball

I used to make paper cartridges for .58 Minie balls with wax paper. Worked good for me. Too much work so now I just load powder and ball.

Percussion caps and other supplies during the last shortage?

What happened to the old 6 wing musket caps? CCI dropped the ball on this one. I need a kicker charge of Goex to make sure it goes off. Pyrodex isn't expensive here but using a full charge of Goex is.

Take the lock off when cleaning?

I take the lock off my caplock every time I clean up. Scrub it rinse in water, dry it a bit then stick in oven to dry completely just for a few minutes then oil. The hollow in the hammer gets a buildup in time so I use a small screw driver to scrape it out. Never did that with my Lyman GPR and...

    Investarm Hawken parts.

Taylor and Company would probably have wedges, they don't rob you on shipping to Canuckistan like most places. Forgot about TOTW they also are very fair with shipping.

    Going public!

I've always said a silent " thank you " to my Great grandfather and Grandfather for coming to Canada from Scotland and England. No disrespect meant. In 5 months we can kick this anti everything government out and our firearms will be safe. They are safe now in the hands of legal owners as far as...

    Patched balls in Rifled Muskets?

I've tried a .575 ball with a .010 patch with very good accuracy. Grenadier is right, use a lighter load of powder for best results.

    Repro 1863 Remington "Zouave" problem.

Yes I can see how that will work, thanks. I saw how compression is a problem with mine. Not sure what type of wood it is, hardwood of some type but it is easily compressed, maybe just because that area is not very thick. It now works better than before. There are 2 distinct clicks at half cock...

    Agreed. Thanks again.

    Repro 1863 Remington "Zouave" problem.

Thank you Eddie. Very relieved to have it working, love that rifle. It also has 2 lock screws so I'm careful now on how tight they are. I've had a few Pietta cap'n'ball revolvers and made sure that the screws were not to tight. Matter of fact the last one I had the screws were so tight from the...

    Repro 1863 Remington "Zouave" problem.

Right on, thanks. I did notice that the wood is easily compressed.

    Repro 1863 Remington "Zouave" problem.

As I told Zonie I tried both your suggestions and things are working now. It actually needed what both of you told me. Many thanks for sharing your knowledge. Until it went south on me I was getting very good results with a patched RB.

    Repro 1863 Remington "Zouave" problem.

I tried your suggestion and bang's with success. The old girl seems to be back on track. Many thanks.

    Repro 1863 Remington "Zouave" problem.

Thank you Zonie, more great advice. Going to try all of it and post results.

Loose 'clean out' screw on GPR rifle

Had the same rifle and same problem. I drilled and tapped for a larger screw. You could try what rusty suggested or yeah, some JB Weld over the screw would do it also.
