Ok just kidding. I use soap and water with a tube that is submerged in the liquid letting me pump the bore with the soapy water, then run a few patches to dry. To make sure all is dry i use a heat gun with a metal funnel to send hot air down the bore and this removes any moisture that may be...

After every shooting session i send out my flintlock to a guy that specializes in cleaning black powder rifles, he charges a fair price and the shipping is not too bad.

    My Road to Accuracy.

After giving it a little thought i think i will stay at 25 yards and try to get it tighter before moving on. I need to cast some bullets and also will tinker with the lube mix a bit and see what results i get.

    My Road to Accuracy.

Thanks Bull. It made me feel good that all the details i worked on so far showed an improvement. Still more work to do but it's fun seeing the improvement. By looking at my target would you say next step is to move out to 50 yards and see how they group or keep working at 25 yards and try to...

    My Road to Accuracy.

Hi Necchi, originally i did a batch with 1/7 and after it dried it felt as there was not enough lubrication. This is probably from my experience with previous patching lube (Bore Butter, you can really tell it's on there) i was worried there was not enough lubrication and i would have to pound...

    My Road to Accuracy.

Finally got to the range and I was able to get a bench on the 25 yard line. I have been reading and making some changes trying to improve the accuracy on my flintlock, a Lyman GPR .50 cal. Today’s results were very satisfying, I made some good progress. The last time I went my groups were not...

    Stock Care

No, pretty dry. Summers here (NorCal) are very dry. But it think if you apply it the way it is recommended there is no buildup of the material on the stock, just enough to do the job.

    Stock Care

I did mine over a week ago and do not see any issues on mine. The way i applied it was to spray a clean rag then use the rag on the stock. I did not apply it directly to the stock so i would not have too much of the fluid on it. That is the recommended way to apply the product "Apply to a...

    I need a do-over!

    I need a do-over!

Don't feel to bad, tried to go shooting at my local range the last two times (during the week) and it was full (i needed the 25 yrd target). Waited to see if there was an opening but no luck, lots of hunters sighting in for the opening. At least i did not have to clean the rifle.

    Stock Care

This has been a very interesting thread and thank you all for your input. I finally decided to go with what Necchi uses, Scott's Liquid Gold Wood Cleaner & Preservative. I picked some up at Walmart and it's not expensive. It's an aerosol so one can will go a long way. I tried it on my Lyman...

    Stock Care

Well, funny you should mention that. The reason i asked this question is because I just got my Lancaster 40 cal last night and it was suggested to use what you mentioned. I though...transmission oil? Isn't that toxic to handle since you put it on the stock and will be handling it? So i decided...
