    Loading the musket

I've used newsprint with my Bess. I got an end of a roll from the local paper to help packing the house up when we moved for $2.00. We used it for packing dishes, glasses etc. I started using it after I ran outta tracing paper one day. It works just fine.

thinking of building a fowler..need input

I've got a TOTW 45cal Rifle I built; and it shoots great! I bought a Bess last year, and enjoy building my own lead mine with it. But recently I've been thinking of a .62 cal/20 gauge smoothbore. Mainly because it would have less recoil than the Bess! And, because I really enjoyed building my...

    Threw away my Triple Seven....

Well, I couldn't cobble a rocket together that fast, so I just showed my wife how much smoke a bottle of 777 will generate. :haha: Then I saw the neighbors actually looking at my place...that was funny!! Looked like a shuttle test!! Fortunately they are used to this kind of behavior and...

Disposed of the Triple Seven after I got home. Ignition time is amazing. If there is anyone having...

    Wont Spark w/new flint

I'm new to this, and it' great, I finished my Track Of The Wolf .45 Flintlock recently and couldn't wait to fire it. So I was using a flint I found in a shipwreck several years ago...anyway I guess it was brittle and broke in pieces (dumb move-I know). I just got some 3/4 x 7/8 Tom Fuller flints...

    Lead Levels in Blood

I was in the Service for 11 years as a Firearms Instructor and was constantly exposed to airborne lead (primer compounds and burnt base of the projectile which is not copper jacketed). My shop was tested (cause that's where we punched bore's) and it went off the scale!!! I always had a clean...
