    if it means draw filing you got good point. this is my first build except for a CVA squirrel rifle about 30 years ago. it was a good shooter but it sure was ugly when i got done with it. thanks for the advice, thats why i came to this forum.

    i got another barrel question here. Rice Barrels is offering a gun makers special. same barrel unpolished with square bottom rifling as opposed to radius bottom rifleing, $60.00 cheaper. that would cover my stock upgrade. what are the advantages / disadvantages between these types of rifling...

    thanks for all your help, guys. i checked the Rice Barrels web site and they offer the B weight in 36 cal. that would be a little lighter than the 40. by the way it is going to be a squirrel rifle and 40 cal. is just a little more than i want for that, i can live with 36. oh yeah, i DID think...
