Ramrod will not go back into place and is sticking out beyond front of barrel. Help!

As I recvall that happend to me with my CVA. The ramrod retaining spring had flipped. flipped, it blocked the hannel so the rod wouldn't go all the way through. But as I recall the barrel was fairly easy to remove. Then i flipped the spring back, checked it with the rod, reassembled, good to...

    Places to get a matchlock?

No, i'm not writing about joining an internait0nal or olympic team. I'm 69 myself and olympics are always a your person's sport. I'm writing about holding a competition and get-together open to all matchlock shooters.

    Earliest Blueing or Browning?

What is the earliest blued or browned firearm that you know of? I ask for historical interest and suthenticity. The military arms I know about are mostly "in the bright' into the mid 1800s, but I am aware of a forum post referencing Portuguese instructions on blueing from 1713. So when did...

    Acceptable Lube for Minnie Ball

Scott, Crisco will work on a cool day if you are lubing the Minie right before loading it. Hell, margarine would probably work. But on a hot day Crisco will flow like water, meaning it will run right OFF your bullet and ruin your powder if you are using quick loaders or even paper cartridges...

    Places to get a matchlock?

Source for a non-snapping plain old historical late 1500s . early 1600s style matchlock: I got mine from Veteran Arms, last February. It's Indian made. It works! And the price was not bad. Fishtail stock style. Shoots pretty well in my humble opinion... not rifled of course .... it turns...

    New to Casting bullets

No on the car battery lead. I have bought lead from Rotometals - it's always good quality but pricey. Look at ingot size: Their big ingots will need to be cut with a cold chisel to get pieces that fit into your pot. Also on Ebay (look for "soft lead"; most that advertise soft lead are...

    Let’s talk about the F’s

Smaller grains burn faster and so have a higher pressure spike. This is true for black powder and also for nitrocellulose powder. I first heard it at the Field Artillery school decades ago. So the nitrocelluose grains in 8-inch howitzer bags are as big as my thumb, to burn in a really long...

    Casting Issue

Those marks remind me of what i get if I don't fill the mold cavity in one pour. I remelt those "factory seconds". What size ladle are you using - the little Lee teaspoon or a big iron Lyman ladle?

    Steel plate for Range

50 feet sounds like a safety problem. if i were you I'd tell people to walk that 50 feet, they won't be exhausted. Don't use a stationary steel target or target backer. That round ball will bounce back at you at 50 feet, or even 25 yards. I wouldn't use a swinger at all at 50 feet. You WILL...

    Lee Moulds

No I have not used the graphite powder which is for locks. I now use a spray can of Frankford Arsenal Drop-Out. I think it sprays the smae stiuff as Ramine Mold Prep did, which i used to apply with a Q-tip: finely divided carbon in alcohol. Much more finely divided than the stuff for locks.

    Lee Moulds

Smoking or other mold release is for a mold release. It's a different purpose than pre-heating the mold. I smoked my Lee molds at first, but decades ago changed to using Rapine Mold Prep and now that Rapine is out of business am using a dry graphite spray. You don't have to do this much...

Are movie prop revolvers fully functional reproductions?

Baldwin will escape conviction for murder because he did not have intent to kill. Not because he is a star. Intent is required for any criminal conviction, and I have no doubt he would hire a competent lawyer who will point that out.. But I agree that he will not escape liability in a wrongful...

Has Anyone Ever Bought From A Place On The Web Called Firearms World For BP.??

Better Business Bureau can't shut anyone down, it's a voluntary organization. The question is why someone with enforcement authority doesn't shut them down. Of course they may be outside the U.S., site hosted in North Korea for all I know. But their banking connections are vulnerable.
