    Layout fluid?

Cleaned the barrel and used a Sharpie Pro....Here is my first ever Dovetail....into anything. Just a half a hair high nothing a little stoning won't fix. Best of all it's tight even without punch down. Oh I really need to measure better.

    Layout fluid?

What do you guys use besides dykem? Dont seem to be able to find any around here. Been thinking sharpie permiment marker, dry erase marker, finger nail polish???? anyway thought sharpie would work good but it wiped right off. OH and my candles must be the eco candles because they didn't leave...

    Pre-flintlock heaven

I must say that is IMPRESSIVE! What I see is Man Years of work. Just the Racks of puffers alone with the detailing. It's truly amazing just to try and think how long it took to build those....without assembly lines and hammering barrels by hand.

    Bobcat 50 cal

I have had issues with the patch getting caught on occasion but nothing I could not screw a cleaning jag on the other end and pull out. Might be your jag your using or in my case my jag. Don't really know. :idunno: I even nailed three brass tacks in the side of the forearm made it look...

    Bobcat 50 cal

I have one that I started with, it has the plastic stock on it. Bought it for $60 from Basspro thought I was wasting my money. Dang thing proved me wrong, shot real good. Even with my cleaning mistakes it still shoots real well. Do some looking around on the net and see if you can still find...

    Non-Lead projectiles for hunting

For better expansion you could just shoot Gold. Give new meaning to California Gold Rush. With Brass I would wonder what the down range energy would be pass 50yds, the larger frontal area compared to the 50cal lead will slow the ball down more. If someone could figure the math out on sectional...

    Is A 28 ga Enough?

I guess lead weighs differently and fly's slower out of a BP gun when shot at 1200fps. LOL.

    Gettin' Ready - Buck/Bull Photos

Your norther deer coats are vastly different than out deer coats at that time of year. In that second pic does it look like that grass is stuck to him? Is that from rolling around getting the summer coat off you think? Or is he working on his camo for the upcoming season?

    Is A 28 ga Enough?

Roundball I would have to respectfully disagree. It does have barring on the matter if BP guns shoot in the 1150-1200 fps range(Which I read here is very possible). As I have used those velocities to take many turkeys. And agree you have to test and see what your particular gun likes and...

    Is A 28 ga Enough?

I must admit that I do not have any experience in the BP field with turkeys. But I do have a good bit with killing turkeys, missing turkeys and running down turkeys. Those birds seem to twist you around for the most awful shot some times. I very seldom hunt private land birds as I don't find...

    Next rifle--.32,36,40???

You might take a look at the Pecatonica river Beckboy kit. Sounds about what your looking for. I'm in the process of mine. But in a 37" straight 40. The larger bore makes it feel right to me. But that is just barrel inlet into the stock so far.

Track of the Wolf Bucks County Rifle Build Update #16

You just keep it going so we don't end up with toothpicks and rust and I'll be OK.

    Is A 28 ga Enough?

LOL that for sure don't ask for a drum stick you might be chewing for a while. My favorite is the cut across the grain of the breast in 1" strips and coat with cracker meal and fry like chicken fingers. Have not found anyone that did not want more after the first bite.

    Pre-build suggestions

One thing you got to have is a something to hold the rifle. I borrowed a buddies "work mate" and its doing pretty good so far.
