I love the way they point and ballance but above that i don't care how pretty they are if they don't shoot good they won't find a home with me. I wonder if there is anyway to tell if a barrel is bent a little ?

    barrel Question

Roy, how do you mean more finiky ? If the inletting isn't perfect will that cause possible accuracy problems because of the barrel being so small. Whereas a B or C being thicker won't be as critical concerning vibrations that could cause inaccuracy. ???

    40 cal for small game/deer

Here in MO during the regular deer season, there ar a lot of magnum shooters, 300 mag, 7mm mag etc. These same hunters acoff at a 243 or 6mm. All will kill a deer realy good. I know of kids who kill deer with a 223. Not my choice because I have other firearms to use, but if my only gun was a...

    40 cal for small game/deer

It's all about placing your shot right. My last two bucks were killed with a 45 cal. flinter. I have killed a bunch over the years and from experience i can tell you that a hasty marginal shot with a 54 cal. pushed by 90 grains of 2f can produce a long blood trail. Be a little more carefull...

I found a way to keep my bottle of true Oil from drying out. When I open a new bottle I take a toothpick and make a small hole in the foil. just large enough to let out a few drops. When I'm done with the application I squeeze the bottle enough to bring the liquid to the top and then put the...

Well i finally got this pc back working so I can respond. Most of my hunting is for deer and squirrel. The country around here is mostly open but still most shots at deer are 75 yards and under. My biggest concern was, would a cal. between 50 and 58 be adequate with shot for squirrel. and...

modified vise jaws for swamped barrel ?

I originally used hard wood because it is easier and less expensive than say brass or aluminum. The one I saw in the tool catalog I believe was made out of aluminum. The one I made of wood works great on holding the stock at the lock area since i don't use undo pressure to hold the stock. Just...

modified vise jaws for swamped barrel ?

I had the same problem. i found what I needed in a tool catalog but thought they were too expensive so I made my own from the picture. I hope I can explain how I did it. I used two scraps of hardwood about half to 3/4 in. thick to fit inside the jaws. Then take a piece of 3/4 hardwood dowel...
