Ox Yoke 1000 lube+ who uses it?

I used the 0.020 oxyoke patches the lube you mention. They have a tight weave and worked great. However, just like many people say I found that the lube will deteriorate the patch over time. I bought the cotton drill and lube them as needed.

    Wood repair around tang

I am working on a gun kit. This is my first experience inletting the tang. I had to bend the tang to the stock profile which made it difficult. I ended with the following two problems: 1 I removed too much wood depth under the tang. I think I can easily fix this issue with bedding compound. 2 I...

    Recommend tool to shape stock

I am currently working on a rifle kit. After fitting the butt plate, I noticed I am going to need to remove wood. This job is going to take more than sand paper. Could someone please recommend a rasp tool (make/manufacture) that will be productive and allow maintaining the stock contour?

Locating position of drum on barrel

Sorry for the confusion. My question was only for help on where to install the drum in relation to the breech plug. My kit plan shows the drum hole being drilled such that the left side of the drum hole (right hand lock) is just barely in front of the breech plug threads. One the other, the...

Locating position of drum on barrel

While looking over the plans for a percussion rifle I am building, I noticed some differences in where a drum is installed on a barrel. The plan drawing for my rifle shows the drum threads just in front of the breech plug. However the instructions for the jig used to locate the nipple on the...

    Method to solder barrel rib

I have a kit for a half stock rifle where I will need to attach a barrel rib either by screws or solder. Can anyone describe the method to sweat the rib to the barrel? If you think attaching with screws is a better method please let me know? Thanks

    Kibler 50 cal colonial

I learned a few lessons on finishing the stock of the kibler colonial rifle: 1. Be very careful how much you sand around lock and side plate inlet area. It is easy to sand off too much material due close tolerances. 2. I bought a bottle of ferric nitrate from a place other than Jim Kibler. The...

    Patch or lube issue

I have a kibler 50 cal colonial. For a long time I couldn't even find the patches and when I could they were char. This only improved by going to a .495 round ball and 0.020 oxyoke patch. Much tighter and these patches have a very tight weave. Also had to bring the powder charge (Swiss 2f) down...

Rate kits on difficulty: TVM, Chambers, Kibler, Pecatonica...

Sorry to say a good percentage of the young people in the US have been influenced by academia to hate firearms with the exception of air rifles.
