    My Fowler done!!

Good job. Certainly a fine looking fowler with beautiful wood! I'd have gone 46" or 48" barrel but then that's just me!

    Dutch's system works

Good, glad it's working out. If I could go back and get one from my past it'd be our old 1949 Chevy 4-door Deluxe. It was a low speed tank but just cool!

    1860 Pietta Army Too Tight?

Old Colt specs called for a gap of .006 to .008 on percussion revolvers but this was their specific recommendations. As long as it doesn't exceed .010 there shouldn't be a problem.

    Something completely different

You betcha! Mostly found in east Texas, have managed a few through the years. My late wife was an Iowa girl and had some serious ideas about what was fit to eat. Did get her to try my Muskrat Jambalaya once and ended up having to share it! She drew the line at raccoon and fox though...

    Dutch's system works

We all benefit from the fact you had a lot of time on your hands back then. The muzzleloading world is better for it anyway. Not sure what to say about your car except damn...but it's probably in pieces in some old garage across the river!

    GPR fit?

LOP is not dependent on height, as you say, but on arm length. Hold your shooting arm out and bend 90 degrees at the elbow. LOP is the distance from your elbow to the tip of your trigger finger...that's the quick and easy method to tell. Also correct is the comment about crescent butt plates and...

    Loading question

No kidding! As an aside, we ask the kids at the state sponsored shoot to bounce the rod off the load but only from about an inch up...just tells us and them that it's seated, and this only because we make them load their own shots and most have never shot anything before. Hard or repeatedly is a...

Cabela's Blue Ridge - what do you think?

I can only speak for the .50 caliber version but we use one , along with a T/C Greyhawk, for our state sponsored shoot to introduce high school kids to the shooting sports. It's a three day event and we average 75 to 125 kids each day and they all get a minimum of two shots...more if there's...

May I suggest Witchy Woman! :haha:

    Vertical ambush

Jut remember the younger the more tender! Good job by the way. Like the game bag too...reminds me an old gentleman I knew as a boy. He wove cast nets and had made the boarding nets the Navy used during WWII. He'd be sitting there running his shuttle and I'd ask... "What are you doing Mr...

    Something completely different

And we've all had them...if you ever had a hot dog then among the 'by products' used to make them are inverted pig rectums. In fact, Tyson's biggest outlet is their frank & sausage production. :haha:

    Dutch's system works

Things falling off is a good sign of a problem! Those dear ladies do keep us from doing some of the sillier things in life. Miss mine too...few more bruises these days! Oy Vey!! :rotf:

    Hawken vs Long Rifle

Those old CVA Kentuckies weren't long on looks but 75 grains of FFg used to put a lot of Bambis in the freezer!

    Stlnifr from South Carolina

Welcome to the addiction! You'll probably find a .440" ball and a .015" patch will do the job well...it's an old well used combo for your gun. 70 grains FFg is a noted accuracy load and 90 grains gives nearly 2000 fps velocity and is a good hunting load. You can go up to 110 grains but after 90...

    Dutch's system works

Oh Lord...you have to be on your guard all the time. Some of those numb-nuts are good at it.Just remember Ma Williams comment about all the little pot holes in life...."Think of it as humility training!"

    Hawken vs Long Rifle

Originally, you'd have been looking at long and smaller bored vs. shorter and ruggedly built. In these days the gun's abilities has somewhat over-lapped so that it'd be more a matter of personal choice. Many prefer the "Hawken" type for little more than convenience and portability. Some of us...
