    Over the moon

Thanks everyone for the compliments and encouragement. Seems each one is an improvement and learning experience. I messed up the first pewter pour but it’s no big deal to remove the bolster. I just saw across it diagonally with a hack saw down to the hard tang, insert a flat screw driver in the...

    Over the moon

With my latest file knife made from an old Simonds Nucut file. Pewter is from an old bowl from Goodwill and pins are 5/64“ bicycle spokes. Moon is a rough carving I did with the Dremel and a modified xacto knife blade. Finished with Fiebings med brown leather dye and Renaissance wax. Overall...

    Black Powder Internal Ballistics Calculator

I find this very interesting and can’t stop playing with different load comparisons. I’ve often wondered how much velocity and energy my muzzleloaders produced and it’s interesting to compare calibers. There’s a lot of additional info as well, like % powder burnt, max pressure, muzzle pressure...

    Royal Navy Sea Service Pistol

The ram rod in my kit came with the tip already assembled/epoxied a came apart as well. I re-epoxied and (properly pinned it) which I recommend. You don’t want that coming off and stuck in the bottom of the barrel! Have a blast with your new pistol!

    Royal Navy Sea Service Pistol

I just built what looks just like the kit version of this. I purchased it from TOW for $199 for a complete kit incl the lock and belt hook. (crazy low price). It is much larger than I expected (much larger than the Pedersoli Kentucky pistol kit). It’s 19” long just like yours with a 12” .62 cal...

    Scrimshaw on Black?

I’ve done this on a pet store chew toy black water buffaloe? small horn for a pistol. No filler used. Lines show up pretty well. The beak comes off to pour out the powder.

    Marking a new sear spring?

Hi, I would probably just make one out of a piece of jig saw or hacksaw blade, especially since you have the pieces to copy. Here’s a tutorial for making a “leaf type” mainspring, some of which will be similar to a smaller sear spring. Couldn’t find anything specific to a sear spring. Or if...

    Pedersoli kit build, then rebuild

Thank you all for the compliments, means a lot considering the talent pool here. The trigger guard came from track of the wolf. I believe it was this one: they have 7 to choose from for pistols. https://www.trackofthewolf.com/Categories/PartDetail.aspx/930/1/TG-MA-19-B...

    Another new tool , Anvil

Congrats! That’s an awesome find. I’ve been wanting one for several years. I was bidding on a nice one yesterday at a local auction but the price exceeded my wife’s facial expression. Maybe next time.
