    The inletting is going to be the challenge, at least for me! 😬 Barbie sent me a plain sideplate that's also a fit to the kit. It will cover the area of the fancy one so there is sidedoor if needed.

    This is for my Chambers English Sporting Rifle. As you can see it is a casting. Not terribly rough but I'm wondering how to approach it so as to ensure I don't damage the cast in "engraving". It's not fragile but neither is it thick and stiff like a solid sideplate. Any thoughts?

    I think your caliber and load are adequate. Upping the powder charge will help a bit with the trajectory but that's not really the problem. The problem is knowing the range precisely and having a very good rest that you are familiar with and practicing at the distances you expect to shoot...

    I think the "yes" on that standard question would probably trigger a hazmat fee. As regards FFL requirements, I've never heard of a postal reg to that effect 🤔. Maybe there are some state laws but fed laws only require shipping to an ffl. Don't have to be an ffl to ship.

    Did some casting. 450 × 200 for the 1860. 445 for the tc 45 and 530 for the tc 54. No large quantities cause these are just for a bit of fiddling with patch material. Hope to shoot tomorrow weather permitting.

    Something doesn't seem right here. 🤔 I've never heard of USPS X raying anything. Did you at any time declare to the shipper what was in the package? Did you have the shipper wrap it? Did they label it? It looks like your shipper raised a red flag to the USPS.
