    Election time is over!

I'm always glad when the elections are over. Not just because all the silly TV ads are done, but I get to go out and collect the free signs for target frames. I like the heavy card board signs. Turn them inside out, re-tape them back together and you have an excellent standing target frame ...

    Cleaning jag getting stuck

Another additional thought about pinning your ramrod tip, make sure the thread you are using for your brush or jag matches the thread in the ramrod tip. An 8/32nd threaded end will thread into a 10/32nd ramrod tip. But it can loosen up and it can come out of the oversize ramrod tip and get stuck...

    Cleaning jag getting stuck

I quit using jags many years ago. I found that using an undersize bore brush and wrapping that with my cleaning cloth makes a tight enough fit to scrub the fouling out of the barrel and it won't get stuck downbore. Depending on how much cloth you wrap around the brush you can make it tighter or...

    Kibler Fowler

I fired off an email about Jim's future smoothbore offerings and if I could get that smoothbore gun with a percussion lock. I'm leaning toward the 16 gauge as it is a bit lighter and would make a great hunting gun. I can get a 17mm punch off Amazon for $9.99 so I can make all my wads and cards...

    Kibler Fowler

We used to have a gun shop here in Logan Ohio like Judges. That was Jerry's gun store. you could get ANYTHING there and he had an affinity for old muzzleloaders. All the nice relics and antiques that lined his walls would make you drool. His prices were below everyone elses. Ohio Rusty ><>

Salvaging wool from grubby motheaten blankets?

The two end blankets look like a match for color. You could make them look like one period blanket by stitching the two together having a single seam up the middle. After stitching, that double blanket and the others look like good candidates for walnut dye and make some nice brown woodsy...

Went back to water - cleaning woes and foes

Hot water will help remove any lube mixed with powder fouling from your barrel that will cause rust. Try it ..... Put your lube on your hand and run your hand under cool water. The water just beads off your hand the same way the water just beads off the powder fouling mixed with your lube in...

2024 cap update, bad and the bad

I ordered 2 tins of the 250 count RWS plus and was able to use the free shipping Powder valley was offering with the free shipping code FBFS24. Past threads about those RWS caps people are saying they are 10 and 1/2 size. I know on my Crockett .32 #11's are a little loose. These may be a bit...

2024 cap update, bad and the bad

I saw those. They have free shipping with a code. I'm considering getting 2 tins of the hotter caps, but I'm having a hard time wanting to spend $100 for 500 caps. ($37.99 x 2 plus $22.95 for hazmat) Ohio Rusty ><>

How I Stripe my Ram Rods. A how-to video.

I striped mine. I used a light flame from a torch and went round and round from tip to bottom. I then rubbed in several coats of coal oil. Ohio Rusty ><>

    old bullet mold

That may be a mould for buckshot, not a rifle ball. A few years ago I got a 24 caliber round ball mould off Fleabay for buck loads in my .54 caliber smoothbore. 3 .24 caliber ball fit nicely in a paper patched stack in my barrel. Ohio Rusty ><>

    Thoughts on Percussion Caps

My Walmart in Logan Ohio doesn't carry any muzzleloading supplies, including percussion caps. There isn't even a spot on the wall for any muzzleloading stuff. Ohio Rusty ><>

    Kibler side effect?

I wonder if they did this gun argument silliness in the 18th century ?? I can hear one know-it-all colonial guy exclaming " Well Sir ... if your rifle wasn't made by J.P Beck or George Schreyer ... .then your rifle made by Fabbrica d’Armi Pietro Beretta is junk and I would never own one !!!"...
