    Camp chair

An old and venerable design. I have rolled out of one of those, several times in my past, after some liquid refreshment. Two pieces of wood and very simple, but it turns out these are an example of "they could have had it, they had the tech, but apparently, they did not". ALAS some of the...

Yes that is the Green Mountain Stamp. Can't tell what I'm looking at in the second photo the Williams site is modern just as the TC factory sights were modern. They work. LD

    New Loading Tips for Muzzleloaders

A very cool gadget and one that will likely interest the folks having to reach-out beyond 100 yards when hunting in the West. Just be advised we don't discuss sabots, or jacketed ammo on The Forum, and inlines are also verboten. Thanks for sharing. :thumb: LD

    H and R Springfield 58 cal.

The price has been removed and this has been moved to PERCUSSION RIFLES for people to suggest what it' worth, which is allowed under the rules, as it was first posted without a price and no authentication card in any photo. THIS IS NOT AN AD ANY LONGER LD

    load question

So before you go down a rabbit hole, use the brass, adjustable measure. Worry about the Lee powder measure kit later. The old rule-of-thumb was start out with loads equal to your caliber, rounded to the nearest ten, so a .45 would start with 50 grains, while a .54 would also. Then work up to...

    Colorado Muzzleloader Projectile Conundrum

Well first, you might try a Lee .429 bullet mold throwing a 200 grain bullet, using a paper or linen "cross patch". Slow twist barrels usually work better using short, kinda stubby bullets. The mold is made for use with bullet alloy, which you could use, but you could also use pure lead...

    Colorado Muzzleloader Projectile Conundrum

Today we normally don't patch our conical bullets as we are only reaching out to 100 yards or so, but patched conicals were the primary manner that projectiles were launched for the shooters using target rifles out to 40 rods (220 yards) post WW2. See The Muzzle-Loading Cap Lock Rifle by Ned...

    Tomahawk block ideas

Well first, do you have a large block of wood which to throw at? IF you don't, you can assemble a dozen 2x4's like a square shield, and post the "shield" with the boards sitting vertical. You need seven 2x4's six-feet in length. You cut them in half, and you use 12 pieces for the target and...

SOLD Unique One Of A Kind (Mule's Ear, Side Hammer, Striker?) .50 Cal READ entire description please.

I wonder if a few adjustments were made to the hammer/striker, such as more exterior metal and a more robust guide rod and stop plus a bit more on the cocking lever..., to allow for more mass in the hammer/striker part and thus more mass to strike the cap, if that wouldn't solve the 25% failure...

Condemning an old rifle, rather than repairing it.

RIGHT my brother likes to buy up old reels, hard used and put away without care, and will buy several of a specific brand and model, and usually ends up with something that is pretty good when he cleans them up and combines parts. I like the same thing with some banged up muzzleloaders, just to...

If you had only two choices.

You've seen replies about the depth of the rifling, and the width of the rifling, and one asked about the twist rate. I'd try to test fire both and whichever was the most accurate would be what I would choose. IF I could not test fire, then I'd go with a 1:48 twist rate or slower. LD

    unusual Brown Bess Lock marking??

I would have thought Ethiopia, as they display the Lion of Judah on firearms, but their version is always thus Now Sierra Leon uses the Lion Rampant, which is what the lion on your musket would be called. Sierra Leone was used by the British for resettlement of African heritage people from...

Need replacement barrels for 12 gauge pietta SxS

Well I doubt you will find stuff that "drops-in". You might check on eBay from time to time, but normally what you find are people that have broken down a working gun into parts groups to dodge eBay posting regs. Probably best to sell the lower off and use the money to defray the cost of a...
