My rifle is loaded right now with a pinch of wasp nest over the powder & a patched ball seated on top. I do this when leaving my gun loaded during hunting season using a olive oil wet patch .. I feel like it helps seal the bore much more than just a patch does and it also protects the powder...- smo

Punch size for 16ga?
Wait till you try too find the right ball size for that 16…. That’s where knowing the bore measurement is critical.. I shoot a .626 ball out of my 16 gauge Tip Curtis smoothbore.. I’ve shot .648 & .642 as well , but those are difficult to load after a few shoots. My Colerain barrels...- smo

Newbie Looking for Advice on Failed Ignition of Main Charge
Be sure to lube/ soap/ oil the barrel good prior too screwing in the ball puller.. It will help the ball too slide back out..👍 We use a tee handle on a range rod tied to a overhead limb or rafter…Pull straight down on the gun and the stuck ball will come out.. If at home, I like using my air...- smo

Depending on location and availability of methods too be considered. IMHO the least invasive method would be blowing the ball out.. Either trickle powder behind the ball and shoot it out or blow it out with Co2 discharger or air compressor if possible. A air compressor works great. Use a...- smo

Strap bag vs belt bag?
From the stand I use mostly a modern back pack and a fanny pack.. On woods walks I use both a shoulder bag and a belt bag as well.. I usually carry a haverbag along also…- smo
