What is the trigger pull on your Pedersoli Lorenz?

Yes, the lock is assembled well. I have had loose bridle screws make my M1842 trigger go light. All is snug here.

What is the trigger pull on your Pedersoli Lorenz?

I have recently acquired a used Pedersoli Lorenz. Trigger pull was about 2.5 pounds. Another friend also has one that does not meet the 3 pound threshold for N-SSA competition. If you have a Pedersoli Lorenz, what is your trigger pull? Thanks,

I ordered 1000 and had sent to my local Cabela's - no shipping and no hazmat.

Is chain fire more likely from the front end with ball or conical bullet ?

I don't think a well-fitted round ball vs. conical will make any difference. However, conical bullets will have much more contact, or near-contact, with the chamber than the perimeter contact patch of a round ball. Heeled conical bullets should seat straight without cocking.

    BALLISTOL a fair shake

I like Ballistol a lot. I've been shooting black powder competitively for 12 years and have used Ballistol the whole time. I buy it buy the gallon, and a gallon lasts years. I clean with soapy water and follow up with Ballistol. It catches any final bits and oils also. I also rub down the...

    Preference poll: smoothbore or rifled?

I shoot both in N-SSA competition. Different animals entirely. But smoothbore is my favorite thing to shoot. Big holes and shorter ranges mean I can see how I'm doing on target without a scope!

    Pedersoli owners, speak up

I'm finding a couple of issues with Pedersoli guns lately. They are putting patent breeches on guns that should not have them (their Lorenz, for example). They are drilling cleanout screws so they can put right-angle fire channels in guns that would have had straight-in ones (their latest...

    Scammers.............

These events are unrelated. The "virus" scam is to get you to call a number and divulge information.

    Scammers.............

Hey guys: If you are getting a scam email about something you legitimately just ordered - either you or the vendor has a security leak somewhere. Someone's account is compromised if they know the details of what you are buying.

ADDING SOLDER TO LEAD FOR ROUND BALL CASTING

It absolutely matters when shooting military-style bullets that are designed to load with no interference but expand or compress to take up the rifling on firing. Expanding Balls or compression bullets like the Wilkinson require dead-soft lead or they will not take up the rifling, resulting in...

    Scammers.............

It has really gotten to the point that you cannot trust any incoming communication, period. If you did not initiate the communication, and call a number you know is correct, you must assume you are talking to a scammer. With the rise of AI-generated video and voice, you simply cannot tell who...

    Casting Help!

Probably the cheapest way to get started casting is with a simple Lee electric pot, a ladle, and a mold. I prefer a bottom-pour pot for solid bullets. Faster, less mess, and you lose less lead to dross through exposure of the melt to the air. There are a TON of YouTube videos on how to cast...

ADDING SOLDER TO LEAD FOR ROUND BALL CASTING

As usual when this topic comes up, people are coming at it from at least 3 different directions, so you are getting different/conflicting answers. "Round balls" can be used in at least 3 different kinds of guns: Rifles, as patched round ball, revolvers, or smoothbores. Generally speaking, for...

Nipples: To Remove Or Not Remove

While I don't believe it is necessary to remove the nipple for every cleaning, I feel it is important to be able to remove it. I would want to remove it, and then when I put it back in I would apply anti-seize to the threads. To remove, soak liberally with Kroil or similar break-free...

Muzzleloading shops and ranges in Huntsville, AL?

I live in Huntsville (Hi Mr. Collie! :) ) A lot of folks are talking bad about Swan Creek, but you may not know that for about the last 2 years now this is a managed range. It is staffed by state park rangers and RSOs who tend to be pretty vigilant. New cement benches with adjustable seats...
