    Tumbling balls in soapy water

I don't see any gain in tumbling the balls, but just dipping them in soapy water and letting them dry, leaves a surface coating that will prevent oxidation.

cast my first bullet ever, critiques?

Rather then smoking molds, use some 0000 steel wool to polish the edges of the cavities to eliminate manufacturing imperfections. Aside from running your lead a bit hotter, stir your melted lead with a piece of dry stick. I use ramrod cut offs. This will act as a flux to clean the lead, and...

    Triple Sight Picture

Before going to your eye doctor, measure the distance from your eye to the front sight. I tell my doc what I need, and he gave me a prescription to bring the sight into sharp focus.

I stated that backwards. The HEAVY bullet will shoot higher. It relates to dwell time in the barrel.

Is There Any Of You Guys That Use Vintage Tools When Building ML.

I have a set of antique engraving tools Monte Mandarino gave me years ago. The handles have cracked over the years, and I need to restore them and put them away.

    Pine needle hat

An update for any thinking of following this path. I gather another batch of pine needles, and have been preparing them for use. Then yesterday driving down the road, I saw field after field of fresh wheat straw. I picked up a garbage bag full and brought it home. I made a start on another hat...

    Round ball and blood trails

I know things can stretch on tracking. I hit a deer with an arrow right at sunset one evening, with light rain starting to fall. It took me 17 hours to find it.

How much powder for dove load?

Ah, I thought you meant actual weight. That would use up a pound of powder fast, and hurt!

    Jute Tow

To make it more fire resistant, mix up Borax in water, soak the tow, and let dry. Using any type of grease would increase the chance of fire. If you are shooting during a fire ban, I hope you get a nice big fine from the local cops. We've had around a million acres burn here in Montana so far...
