    holster question

I am not a horseman. I will defer to you on that. That's what I get for working from memory and not checking my source. Thanks IronHand

Competitive shooters, a moment of your time please.

Most people use a classic "bullseye stance ". The Colt grip is designed to roll upward with recoil in order to place the hammer near your thumb for recocking. Don't fight it. A death grip is not needed. Especially since recoil is fairly light. Getting a consistent grip can be an issue, that...

    holster question

Just a few observations. I don't claim to be an expert but I have been a CPL instructor (15 years), police use of force trainer and I've been in the firearms business for 40 years. A weak side holster (cavlary) is a vertical, butt forward holster worn at the midline of the weak side hip. A...

    Diy shotgun

Here's the one I made. Is it tradional? No Is it ugly? Yes That's why it's called the Junk Yard Dog. It started life as a CVA Blazer rifle. After considerable modifications it's now an inline 10 gauge trap gun. Pretty is as pretty does. The dog will powder any clay within 40 yards. Why...

    Diy shotgun

.54 Lyman Great Plains Rifle Review

I had an Identical rifle once. Same sight and everything. To call it accurate is an understatement. The load was 110gr 2f Goex, CCI cap and a 310gr Buffalo Ballette. Range of 50 yards from a bench. Ironhand

    Over Powder Wad Question

An overpowder wad is a thick card wad. It is not lubed. You are talking about cushion wads. These are usually lubed to reduce fouling. The unlubed ones are for those that want to use their own lube. Ironhand

    Home Depot patch lube

I'm not necessarily looking for a better lube. Just a more convenient one. This one comes ready to use, no melting or mixing required. If it works out better, then bonus. IronHand

    Minie Ball Tests In Smoothbores

Slow motion filming by Taofledermaus showed that Foster slugs do produce spin. Not very fast but enough to help stability {750rpm}. It does seem to require a tight fit to the barrel as the spin is caused by friction against the barrel. That's according to the original patent. IronHand
