    Boot Pistols?

The wreck of the steamship Arabia in 1858 had barrels full of boot pistols in this style. Like today folks buy expensive working guns, but also el cheapo. I expect a lot of folks would carry one who couldn’t afford or did not want to spend on more expensive guns

Did military blunderbusses use buckshot paper cartridges?

Civilian blunderbuss were loaded with buck. We have an autopsy of an English Lord who was killed in his carriage by a hired killer. In places blunderbuss(i?) were used they were used for their sawed off shotgun effect. I would think they would be loaded with shot

Personal Care Lubricant for Muzzleloaders-What do you think?

You can only find out if you give it a try. As long as the lube prevents the patch from burning it seems to work. Am I the only one who doesn’t really care for carving on a rifle stock?

American rifles cr 1750-1800 typically had some sort of carving. I can’t do it, so all I have on my Lancaster is some raised molding and cuts in the cheak plate. That’s historically incorrect for my style gun. But for me better none and incorrect, then garbage I would get if attempted

Question for the many builders about lock finish

My first build was in the late 70s and my lock was the L and R English ‘waterproof’ style. I was told by the dealer not to finish it, or the barrel too, as that would make the browning solution easier to apply. It was twenty years and a few guns made before I learned the right way
