    Muzzle filing to adjust POI

Just kind of refreshing where I sprung the barrel before and am somewhat versed in metal working. I’ll make another go of it soon and hopefully it stays put.

    Muzzle filing to adjust POI

Apparently this only works for flat based projectiles like bullets and shot wads. Just bevel the muzzle 180 degrees from the point you want to hit.

    Muzzle filing to adjust POI

Yes. I also made a plug with a small center hole that fits close in the muzzle. You can put fishing line through the hole and then run the string down the top of barrel to center of tang and tell how straight or not the barrel is. I worked in a machine shop 35 years or better. And have...

    Muzzle filing to adjust POI

Tried that once already as it looked offset so removed it and re solder it at 12:00. I’m not a quitter. I liked putting it in my large lathe and pulling the barrel and using a center in the tailstock to measure progress. So I’m back to bending. Sounds reasonable about not being able to steer a...

    Muzzle filing to adjust POI

If I get an opportunity I’ll try the full gangster tilt this weekend.

    Muzzle filing to adjust POI

I’m not giving up on getting it to shoot straight for me yet. But am leaving it as is for the rest of the year to shoot two matches. I have two other FDC 20 bore guns that don’t suffer from windage issues but for some reason I can shoot old Cross Eyed Jack better off hand. Would think if I can...

    Muzzle filing to adjust POI

Have not bare balled it. Can’t really see that moving the POI much but I wouldn’t swear to it.

    Muzzle filing to adjust POI

Bent it once between two blocks of wood and the latter times in my 14x46 engine lathe. Yep 12” is a foot at 35-40 yards.

See you next weekend for some smooth bore fun?

    Muzzle filing to adjust POI

Me too, it’s very reliable with fast ignition and groups well.🙁 Maybe a seance or something like that will work. I’m The Booshway at our Rendezvous next weekend and advertised a challenge to anyone that can beat me with a NMLRA legal trade gun. Oh well I’m not too concerned 😁

    Muzzle filing to adjust POI

Got out to try this out and it did not work for me. Ended up with an almost ridiculous angle on the muzzle with no change in POI. Was shooting from a bench on sandbags at 25 yards and got good groups but all in the same area about 6- 8 inches left. This was all while changing the angle of the...

    SOLD Don Stith Custom Hawken.

Doubt it would do any good but I’ll second in line on this.

    Barrel material

Even if the barrel and breech would be up to holding the pressure of smokeless powder the threaded nipple connection most likely would not so why bother.

    Barrel material

5744 is meant to be used in metallic cartridges and is Not a Muzzleloading propellant. It works great in older straight wall and tapered cartridges like 32-40, 38-55 and so forth. 5744 is still available when in stock at close to 50 bucks a pound, I think Hodgdon had bought them out, yes the...

    As said pictures please.

    Trade gun vent position

Touch hole too small and might be too close to breech face. Probably why it was cheated forward in the first place but is still too close.

    A “Fishy” Powder Measure

    I like it👍

    Flinglock cleaning

I do similar to tenngun but don’t put as much water in the bore so I can run a rod with a breech scraper down and spin it several times to loosen the fouling on my flat breech faces.

    Round ball molds

I’ve cut some on a manual lathe using a holdridge radius cutter attachment and some on a HAAS TM1 CNC mill. I think Larry Callahan will fix you up on a bag mold.

    Round ball molds

Was running low on .555 rounds for my 24ga trade gun and dug out one of my home made molds today. Need to get a couple new engraving mills to run a couple vent lines but it works pretty well as is.
