    1858 Remington

I picked up a Richland Arms 1858 recently, steel frame, #10 CCI caps won’t fit but Remington10 do fit. I was surprised that their is a difference in the size between manufacturers. I can’t find Remington caps anywhere. At least I have a friend who gave me a couple of tins for now.

    1858 Remington question

Did Richland arms make a steel frame pistol? I traded for one that the guy at the gun shop claimed was a Richland. The only markings, I can find are cal , black powder only on one side of barrel and made in Italy on the other side. It is steel framed.

    Dry ball idjit

Well I screw a deck screw into the ball chucked the screw up in my Vice, braced a foot on the bench, gave a couple hard yanks and it popped right out👍. Thanks for all you advice. First time in a long time since I’ve messed up like that.

    Dry ball idjit

Well, hadn’t happened for a while, but I did it. Pushed a patched round ball down my 45 Hawken w/o powder. Tried pouring some powder behind the nipple and blowing it out no dice. My ball puller has a brass ring on it for a 59, so that don’t work. Filled my handy dandy air can with 100 lbs of...

    Missouri... anyone?

For you all here in MO, where do you pick up your real black powder? I used to get in St. Charles at Grafs, but they have changed ownership and the new owners don’t have a license for Black Powder.

    Richland Arms 1858 Remington

The gun shop had this pistol tagged as Richland Arms, but all the Richland’s I’ve seen have a brass frame. This one isn’t brass framed.

Just a show of hands, how many make their own ammution?

I cast .440, .490 and .690 ( for smooth bore). Use my Coleman camp stove small pot I bout at a ml randevous. All my lead was free some from a roofer neighbor , some from a nephew and the last from my brother in law who is a retired plumber. Probably have 50 pound of unmelted lead. Always...

Thanks to Forum member Charles Nester I now have steel wedges for my Hawken rifles. Great to know we have such fine members.

    Wedge keys

Yes , the brass ones will wear and get sloppy. Each time you pull them to remove the barrel for cleaning they rub against the steel of the lugs.
