    Copy of an original blunderbuss

I would think it would be spitting shot and powder out the muzzle before the entire charge gas burned, just based on proximity of the front of the charge to the muzzle... But, I'm probably wrong and someone will be along shortly to tell me so and, hopefully, why.

    Rain down the barrel?

I haven't used it in falt out rain, just a light mist and some light snow, but I made a wool cover that extends from around the muzzle to over the lock and it works well. It is only sewn around the muzzle end and back 4 or 6 inches, maybe 8. It falls away quietly and easily if a shot presents...

    Virginia smooth rifle

The term "smoothrifle" shows up in ads pre 1800. And there are examples, for smooth rifles, from the mid 1700s. If they were just worn rifles bored smooth there wouldn't be reference to them in ads. The bigger question is to define, "what is/was, a Virginia rifle."

    Ok, ready for an other…

Never heard of such a thing 😄😄 Self imposed or SWMBO impossed?

    DIY shot cups?

Some of the lead substitute shot out there is harder than the steel that muzzleloader barrels are made from. Unless the bore is chrome lined they can scratch up the bore and if the gun has constriction choke the choke cam be chewed up as well. Even if chrome lined I'd play it safe and use...

    DIY shot cups?

For many kinds of "non-toxic" shot, standard paper is not enough protection from what I understand. I'm told mylar works, but, just like mylar balloons that escape captivity, it will be hanging around the area you hunt littering up the place for millenia. Might need to do some research here on...

    Frozen stall image

Who made your stall and of what? Can you post a pic? I make mine of heavy veg tan on one side (the side against the frizzen face) and stretchy buckskin on the other. It allows for a tight stall to stretch and form fit to the frizzen. Not the best pics but they are what I had already in my...

I believe that info is in the reply with the wood database screenshots.

    Upland Bag Contents

Tin of lubed felt wads and thin "overshot" cards. A small leather bag with turnscrew, wore spring style tow/patch worm, cleaning patches, ball puller, and length of cordage for tow & toggle. Tin of prerolled and filled shot cartridge/cups. Tiny tin of homemade patch/wad lube also used for metal...

Mango Wood For Pistol, Rifle, or Musket Stocks?

Thank you for the screenshots of the data base. That's the info I was wondering when I read the OP question. Specific gravity sits right between maple and walnut it would seem so that's good. Some tropical hardwoods are very heavy and while dense, hard, and tough, would make the rifle miserable...

    Longrifle sling?

As @Clark Badgett mentioned, period slings for rifles were not really "a thing." There are a couple early rifles with accommodations for attaching a sling (really a carrying strap depending on your school of thought regarding rifle shooting) but it wasn't common. That said, I completely...

    Egg tanning a bear hide

Why not use the brain? Every animal has enough brain matter to tan it's own hide.

    Osage Orange for ramrods?

In theory it should work fantastically..... As long as you don't allow any grain run out. As you know from making bows, unlike hickory with Osage you need to chase that ring. A ramrod doesn't need to be perfectly straight so following the natural contours of the grain is fine,,, just seems...

    cleaning brush

Th That's a set in stone fact now? Several here have not had a problem, and the method to do so has been written here on multiple occasions.
