Importance of Shot Placement vs Power

60gr FF will do it at close range….say up to 20 yds. But 100 gr will punch through any whitetail provided no big bone was hit.

If you look at Lebanon buttplate's on TOTW they generally run 1-7/8"

Importance of Shot Placement vs Power

Energy Semenergy...what kills animals is either blood loss, or nervous system disconnect. I've killed more whitetails with a 50 cal PRB using 60gr of 2F than I have with my .54 cal and 100gr 2F. But that's only because I just got the .54 cal a few years ago. :ghostly:

I've tried to find the measurements of my last rifle build. This was for a small frame person or youth. I will tell you that the flatter the comb, the less "cheek slap" you will get from recoil. But my rifle is a 45 caliber so recoil (unlike my .54 cal) isn't much of an issue. Your measurements...

    Conicals for revolvers

I’ve been killing whitetails for years from my 50 cal flinty rifle using Hornady Pa conicals. All advantages you have stated apply. Accurate out to my max range of 100 yards.

Yeah. That camera angle looks bad. There is no nose of the comb on the final product.

I can show you every mistake on any of my builds. You may see a few, but not all. Because you have different wood grains you may want to research how to apply color to the final finish product. That will help make the two different woods (if I’m making sense)

Offhand accuracy with flintlock pistols ?

Cat's eye's say...."Why do you keep punishing yourself. You know you just are a bad shot"

Offhand accuracy with flintlock pistols ?

"Focus" through the shot. Ignore the flash and bang. Keep your eyes and attention on the sights and target the entire way through the shot. Now, if I take my own advice every shot I'd be damn good. :ghostly:

WANTED Looking for a small 40 or 45 caliber flintlock rifle

I understand what you're looking for. If you can build that may be an option for you. I built this "small frame" 45 cal flintlock rifle. I have 9 grandkids....all a bit young yet...but there's hope one will get the bug. This has a 30" barrel, 12.25" LOP, single trigger, hook breech for easier...
