Fusil de chasse a cheek slapper?

I loved my Miroku Brown Bess. Made it from a "returned" kit at Log Cabin Sport Shop . $150 was the cost. Shot it for years during the Bicentennial. I sold it after I acquired a custom long land pattern by Jim Everett. Wish I had it back.

Kibler has announced a Hawken Kit in the works.

He was working on a English Wilson fowling gun as depicted on pp. 53-56 of the book Of Sorts for Provincials American Weapons of the French and Indian War by Jim Mullins. Perhaps the water serpent/ dragon side plate has added to the confusion over the nature of the next Kiblers release.

Kibler has announced a Hawken Kit in the works.

With only 10% of the population being left handed, I don't see a left handed Kibler muzzleloader of any style. I have nothing against lefties as my Mom was one as is my 6 year old grandson, so I may be building a left handed flintlock in the future.

My new Woods Runner from Kibler

What great photos! I was so engrossed in your dog and Woods runner rifle that I didn't notice your hunting bag! Is this something typically used locally? It's outstanding! I have some heavy material from which I might be able to construct one that is similar. Family lore says that we had an...

I had no idea a Kibler was like this

I have met and talked to Peter Kelly at Pricket 's Fort School of the Longhunter. He is a very sincere, knowledgeable man. I messaged him about his not following Kibler's instructions about the nosecap screws, and the backwards sights. Too late about the screws, but his next video explained...

    Question re: Left-handed Flash Hider

I had a home made flash guard blow out on me... straightened right out! Heavier brass is better. Also, try to create a second attachment point. This is required now by reenactment groups.

    Don't Carve That Stock!

I think anyone who has studied carving on guns, even if they are novices or non-carvers can appreciate those that are well done. There are some originals that I don't like. I think observing the Golden Mean in Rococo Art is very important. I have been carving wood since I was a Boy Scout, in...

    Don't Carve That Stock!

That may be true, but it is impossible to prove. Most gunsmiths probably did some carving just because of pride in their product.

    Don't Carve That Stock!

Yes, but they were probably used up over the years as important, but valuable tools.

    Don't Carve That Stock!

I have an original example of that. This mid 19th Century percussion rifle is incised carved and chip carved behind the cheek piece in a very crude manner. It even has a homemade copper patch box, but I consider it folk art.

    Don't Carve That Stock!

While your stock carving may be elementary, but your horn engraving is fantastic. You should transfer some of that skill to the wood, although working in a three dimensional plane rather than two dimensional is different.

    Powder Horn “Sidedness”

Rick, According to Roland Cadle founder of the Honorary Horners Guild a right hand horn grows on the animals right side , and visa versa. How you wear it is up to you. I personally like compound curved horns of some length, so I wear mine on my dominant right side up high with the bag. The...

It's Either a Great Idea or a Stupid Idea.......Undercutting a Traditions Kentuckyish Stock.......Thanks For Looking.

Leaving a wooden under rib would be a lot more traditional and look a lot better than what you are preposing . There is a reason cutting away sections above the ramrod pipes hasn't been done in the past it is weaker , can catch on things, and simply looks terrible in my opinion.

    Blanket Guns

I have a stock for one, but need a barrel. Smooth bores seem to be scarce right now and I don't want to waste a perfectly good barrel by cutting it off.
