    Smoothbore bedding

JB weld has strong compressive strength. It will not compress but transfer whatever load, evenly to the surface it is part of. I use epoxy , not the cheap stuff, the kind that takes 12 hours to set, mixed with sanding dust or punk as a thickener, colorant. J B weld of course will do the job but...

    Pistol with .567 bore

It is a true replica of a 1812 Virginia manufactory martial pistol. It was made in 1959 by Centaur. I put a lot of work into it, it was never fired so the bore is mint but it looked like somebody put it in a sack and tossed it around a damp basement for 60 years . The seller did not know what he...

    Pistol with .567 bore

I am kind of stumped as to what size mold I should get to be able to use this pistol. 14.4 mm mikes at .567 anyone care to advise?

Rebuilding an old Indian made 1756 Brown Bess Musket

I do not have any specific answers to your questions but I would think that there should be more than one blue print of that online as it was/is a very important arm in history. As to your re-aligning the ramrod hole, I am very interested in knowing how you intend to prevent the drill from...

    Powdered punk

Does anyone use punk as a filler/colorant in epoxy work such as barrel - breach bedding, making invisible fills as repair work or from boo boo’s? Or am I the only one turning rotted wood into a super strong, water, oil proof, glue/ filler material? Punk is what is left of wood after certain...

    Bright or browned?

. I believe as a period piece. That probably rules out browning the barrel. I was thinking a browning would lessen rust issues but I have others bright and a wipedown with light machine oil seems to help as well as not handling the bright parts while being stored.

    Bright or browned?

What are thoughts on browning harpers ferry and other military reproduction type pistols that historically were bright? I have a Centaur reproduction 1812 Virginia pistol that was never fired but was stored improperly and am reviving it. Most originals I see don’t have a lot of “bright” left, I...

Weight of Military heritage fusil & northwest trade guns

I will be deciding which of those 2 to buy also from military heritage. I have already had experience with a 1731 Prussian pistol from them and rather than just drill the touch hole, I added a liner. I did other work such as epoxy bed the breech and barrel as it looked like a mini chainsaw was...

Loyalist Arms vs. Veteran Arms flintlock pistols

I ordered a 1731 Potsdam pistol from military heritage . It arrived in a timely manner. Touch hole was not drilled. I installed a coned touch hole liner in stainless, I would have done so anyway. The lock had issues with the sear spring and the frizzen spring being too stiff, general tuning...
