    A mushroom/patch knife

A quick project I did the other day. This should be a handy knife for general use. I made it from 1890’s buggy leaf spring material. I have no idea what the composition of that metal is but it sure makes nice blades. White tail antler shed I found out back.

    CLOSED .45 Flintlock Pistol

Thanks but that is actually the factory Traditions finish I believe it is some sort of 2 part stain with plasticizer spray on stuff, it could be fumed in a cabinet as some furniture makers do many pieces at once but I do not know. the mortises have what appears to be overspray. Sure makes that...

    CLOSED .45 Flintlock Pistol

CVA/Traditions Kentucky pistol semi custom. Epoxy bedded breech area, stainless coned liner, trigger pre load spring installed. All proper. NOS CVA barrel on a NOS Traditions stock with NOS lock. Never fired. I simply don’t care for the shape of the traditions stock. Compression marks on stock...

    Wesson rifle

I would not want one of the die cast versions even though it is cast around a steel breach plug as is this brass version. Die cast belongs with carburetors and toys. MHO.

    Wesson rifle

I don’t think those are aluminum, I believe they are die cast metal. Like a Paris toy musket is what those remind me of.

    Wesson rifle

Not much info on these Richland or Navy Arms replicas. This one is 1979 according to the Italian date code ..45 short 26 inch barrel. I have done a lot of work on this to get it back to this point. Perfect fore end wood and fit with terrible buttstock fitting of metal parts from the factory such...

    Grapevine peeling

Further south I imagine they get very large. I don’t know about making a stock from it as I-think it is too soft. I was maybe going to try a knife handle just for fun, I did one from lilac and it looked ok.

    Deciphering barrel stamps

Perhaps of interest. Brass cast around the breech plug with a curved sub chamber leading to the nipple area, no hard right angle. The receiver also has a proof mark. I bet a lot of these went into the reject pile as it would seem very difficult to produce.

    Deciphering barrel stamps

I will try the chalk, great idea. Yes, I have found 3 types, an all steel color case hardened action version, A zinc based die cast action cast around the steel breech plug with a sub chamber that is centered and has a right angle to the nipple and the brass version which I have that is cast...

    CVA .45 kentucky rifle barrel

I read on here someplace that some of the early CVA barrels were made in USA and that later they were made in Spain. I have seen other CVA products marked Jukar and Dikar. This is a first for me no country-of-origin markings.

    CVA .45 kentucky rifle barrel

I picked up this NOS barrel recently in the hopes of running into a poorly maintained rifle in the future. One with a rusty bore. I have a CVA kentucky already and it is in very good condition however the idea of having another with a new barrel would be nice. After looking at this new barrel...

Thank you! A better photo of the makers stamp here.

    Deciphering barrel stamps

Hi, is anyone here who knows what all these stamps on this barrel mean? I know one of them denotes a black powder proofing, one a date code, don't know which year, one is a manufactures stamp but I don't know what company. They are on a wesson style brass receiver cap lock rifle.

    New top jaw.

2 hours later I have a new top jaw. I did purchase the traditions top jaw shown below the new part but while it worked, it was too small and did not index into position. Lesson learned. That is an Intercontinental kentuckian lock. Intercontinental, Euroarms ..same thing. I can see why work like...
