Thinking about getting my first cap and ball revolver.

Thanks for the advice y'all. One more question, what's they way to go, wads or bore butter? What do you guys use?

Thinking about getting my first cap and ball revolver.

I see. I liked how they looked but nowhere near as much as a steel frame. Thanks for the info.

Thinking about getting my first cap and ball revolver.

Obviously a steel frame is stronger than a brass frame, but do brass frame revolvers have any distinct issues that a steel frame lacks?

Thinking about getting my first cap and ball revolver.

Would any of you recommend Uberti or Pietta over the other? What’s the quality difference, if any? I heard that they were both solid.

Thinking about getting my first cap and ball revolver.

Also, my budget is around $500.

Thinking about getting my first cap and ball revolver.

I'm seriously debating buying my first cap and ball revolver. I'm relatively new to muzzleloading, and I am uneducated in the ways of the cap and ball revolver. In your guys' opinions, what is a good "beginner" cap and ball revolver? I was looking at an Uberti 1851 Navy, but if you guys have any...

Buying Used - What Do You Look For?

I look for bore condition, and cosmetic defects. If I REALLY want a gun, I'll overlook cosmetic condition and I'll fix it up or live with it.

    Percussion cap availability

Now that's lucky! I was fortunate enough to buy a 250 ct tin of RWS 1075 from a club member recently.

    Classic muzzleloader photos.

WOW. That landscape is beautiful! Reminds me of when I would drive to school and see the beautiful Rocky Mountains every morning back when I lived in Colorado.

I joined the dry ball club today

    Unfortunately so!

I joined the dry ball club today

I am horrible with dry balling, some may call me the king! I've dry balled 3 times at a club shoot once! My most recent dryball forced me to take the breech plug out because the lead expanded and I couldn't pull the ball with a puller. I've gotten better, but still not good enough... In this...

    .58 caliber?

Because they are FUN. I absolutely love my 1861 Springfield Armisport repro. Nothing better than slinging a few minies down range IMO :)

Gave in to the nervous nannies

Blowing down the barrel gives me the ick. I know it's near impossible for something bad to happen, but I'm not willing to take the chance for something to go wrong.

    Shipping issues… is this normal?

Most people just want to make a quick buck rather than give quality service these days it seems...

    Shipping issues… is this normal?

I've had a surprisingly good experience with USPS. I bought a gun and it was shipped to me in about 5 days, and the gun was in impeccable condition. I was thoroughly surprised at the speed and quality of their delivery!

    Hunting Gun Weight

Weight isn't even something that crosses my mind when I'm picking a gun.

So I bought a fourth gun in two months…

I bought 3 muzzleloaders in the span of 2 months. Best money I've ever spent!
