    Recent NYS Firearms Law

Yes, NY is a beautiful state with a rich history fundamental to the founding and growth of this country. The Sullivan Act (pistol permit law) stood for many decades without any issues. As an upstater, the oddest part of it or later laws was that a NYS Pistol permit issued in one of the upstate...

    Recent NYS Firearms Law

I would like to say thank you to the moderators for allowing this discussion to continue outside the premium area. I believe it is important for everyone to be aware of what it going on here in NY as it could be coming to your state too depending on where you live and what happens in DC If you...

    Recent NYS Firearms Law

If that wood case has a lock on it that prohibits you from using the gun without unlocking the case.... most likely. Like you are going to swing a 42" barrel flintlock musket around and out the car window to do a drive by shooting with it. Most likely would set the car's interior a blaze lol

    Recent NYS Firearms Law

We've been married 41 years, grown use to each other. I put up with her things, she puts up with mine. But an old saying comes to mind... take my wife, sure,,,,my dog, maybe.... but don't come looking for my guns.

    Recent NYS Firearms Law

To the gentleman that came to NY Saratoga County and is very happy, I am glad, but you are in the minority. For those of us who have lived here for over 60 years, we remember what it once was and are sick over what it has become. To the person that said that we just need to get out and vote...

Angelica Civil War Reenactors event cancelled; similar Fillmore activity unknown

The re-enactment of the Battle of Plattsburgh scheduled for this weekend has been cancelled also due to the new law. I would expect that the similar events for Fort Niagara and Fort Ticonderoga will be cancelled also. Of course this falls into the canceling rewriting of history ...,

    18th century recipes

I made some salt pork a few years back. Used pork loin that I cut thinner than the rest of the chops that were cut from the loin. Used a ceramic crock with a lid. left it in the back of the refrigerator for 8 or 10 months. Checked that the water had not evaporated every once in a while I...

Need some help with handgun value

In my opinion, Remingtons are not as sexy as Colt's but they shoot better. The long groove in the top of the receiver makes a better site picture. They break down easier for cleaning. The full frame makes them stronger. 35 grains of fffg should work well. Get those .454s and enjoy!!

Non-Firing replica 1766 Charleville Infantry Musket

It is my understanding also that in India, like here in the USA for modern guns, no one can manufacture any form of working firearm without strict government approval. That is not that different from many countries and many other manufacturers. A few years back I purchased a made in Belgium...

    # 11 Caps available

Stopped by my local gun shop here in Oneonta NY and nearly fainted when I looked at the price they had put on some #11 caps.....$24.95 for a tin of 100! Owner is a nice guy but his prices are often not the best in the area. He tried to sell the business a few years ago but the interested party...

Replicas of the Colt 1847 Walker

I have an ASM marketed by CVA that has a date code of 1991. At least that is what is on the note I put in the box. Can't seem to find the date code at the moment. Woody

    Loyalists

I believe that the wealthy Loyalists were assisted in leaving Boston and New York city when the British moved out. The poorer most likely had to flee by foot or learned how to survive with the new Americans.

    Non-Toxic Roundballs?

Our current governor clearly stated that she does not need facts to enact laws. NYC controls the state. They own half of the county that starts a mile down the road from me.

neighbor stopped by for coffee this AM

Caught this about 6 weeks ago, right after I installed a new camera. I too live just outside Oneonta. Neighbors have lost beehives and bird feeders over the years never dreamed they would come this close to my house. He may have been looking in the kitchen window lol Well can't seem to get...

Where do you draw the line?

Here are my thoughts: Is it a juried event? then no to all of the OP items Is it a muzzle loading event? the no to the in-line Do the rules say open sights only? then no to the scope Other than that, who cares what kind of rod you are using to load your gun with. As for plastic stocks, is it...

    Graff and Sons Mexico Missouri

My son lives less than an hour away. Visited their retail location last summer. Bought some powder and caps from them but they were only in-stock in the online store so I had to walk into a back office and they placed my order and I walked out with everything. Very nice people. Can't go...
