    Cap sucking cure procedure

As requested in the original thread (which has devolved into an aftermarket nipple discussion - not that there is anything wrong with that)... I've made a video showing my procedure to cure cap sucking in replica Colt C&B revolvers by de-horning the hammer safety slot. I've done this...

    Video- A cure for cap

A common problem with replica Colt cap & ball revolvers is their tendency for the hammer to pull spent caps off of the nipples and to drop them into the action, causing a cap jam. I call this condition "Cap Sucking." There have been a number of modifications developed by modern shooters to...

A cure for cap sucking Colt C&Bs

Pretty good, I think the phys therapist is going to cut me loose at the end of next week. I'm about 90% back to normal.

A cure for cap sucking Colt C&Bs

One question I get asked all the time is, "If modern made Colt replicas suck off spent caps into the action, why don't you read about that happening with the originals?" That is a great question, and I never really had a good answer. I wondered if 19th century cones were different...just...

    Pietta Dance and Brothers revolver

It is as good as any of them these days. I always spend an hour or so de-burring and polishing a new cap & ball gun. It shot well. The glasses are prescription. They are antique frames that I had fitted up with my prescription lenses.

    Pietta Dance and Brothers revolver

As some of you know, I fell and severely broke my shoulder this winter. So, after major reconstructive surgery and three months of physical therapy, I'm finally able to start shooting again. I started my shooting come back with a Pietta replica of a Dance and Brothers revolver...

A look at the Fort Frederick 18th Century Market Fair

At the end of April I was camping at the Market Fair in Big Pool, MD. Here is a look at this year's event https://www.full30.com/video/d2a99c531896670500f39069a3966ad9

    Where I've been

I am planning to camp as usual at the Fort Frederick Market Fair. I've been doing heavy duty physical therapy for a few weeks now. I still have a long way to go, but I've made a lot of progress. With a little help I should be able to set up camp. I have an appointment with my orthopedist on 14...

    Where I've been

I've been getting questions about why I haven't put up any new videos on the swivel breech rifle build. I had an injury that will have me out of commission for quite awhile. This video will explain. https://www.full30.com/video/efe0e747b031ea187c5b0399d9d63c05

    TVM Tulle

I had a TVM fowler. I found that with lower owder charges it shot different with a clean bore than a dirty bore. Clean bore would shoot consistently 5" low and three inches right of where it shot dirty. When I loaded with 110 grains of 2Fg it shot to the same point whether it was clean or fouled.

bare ball, how close is too close

It will depend on what the gun will tolerate. My current 20 ga will load .610" bare balls all day (0.615" bore"), but my previous fowler wouldn't let anything bigger than a .600" ball into a fouled barrel.

.54 Caliber Swivel Breech rifle kit build

This winter I started working on one of David Price’s .54 caliber swivel breech flintlock rifle kits. This is something a little different for me, but I’ve been interested in swivel breech rifles for a few years now. I’m videoing the process of the build. I haven’t posted any of the videos here...

This winter I started working on one of David Price’s .54 caliber swivel breech flintlock rifle kits. This is something a little different for me, but I’ve been interested in swivel breech rifles for a few years now. I’m doing a video series on the kit build, but I want to say up front that I’m...

You're right...next time I'll put the camera on a tripod. Turn over on videographers is killing my bottom line...

Rogers & Spencer Revolver - Full Review

800 R&S guns were sold by the company on the civilian market. None of the 5,000 made on the Army contract were ever issued. Bannerman bought them all in 1901. I think he sold them for $0.25 each.
