    French flintlock pistol?

looks Dutch or German to me. Ca 1750s give or take 20 years, more likely earlier than later given the early banana lock.

An early and very worthwhile project

Hi Rick, I feel sure the barrel is real you can see where it screws in it's not some modern welded piece. I too thought the tang was odd. It could have been modified but the wood appears to be extremely old but has no hole for a screw. It could be that the hole through the tang for the lock...

An early and very worthwhile project

The parts came from a restorer in Germany. Very obviously they made the lock plate attaching either the original engravings or a reasonable substitute. I was going to build the lock based off the modern plate. The rest is clearly original.

An early and very worthwhile project

I realize this is a flintlock in the pre-flint section but when it comes to 17th century I think this section is still most appropriate. I always wanted a good flintlock of the English Civil War period. This 1640s flintlock has seen some restoration already. I need to source lock parts and a...

    Early American flintlock

I'd love to know the history of this one. I bought this in France but it has American features, not the least of which it was made in what looks to me like cherry with knotholes. Knotholes would have been rejected by any European at that time. Dutch type I trigger guard. Hand made butt plate and...

    Mid 17th century barrels project

I came so close to missing out on this I really can't believe it. On auctionzip I bought a couple lots of early parts. A third lot did not get a bid and I got afterwards for less than the starting bid. Thank goodness I did since the unusual barrel tang was in a separate lot from the barrels. I'd...

Any idea how to remove the sling swivel?

yeah I didn't bother commenting on that. Lol. I find those people amusing. I doubt I could get $300 for it the way it is but after I restore it I will get more than twice that. It speaks for itself, it's better to restore it than leave it alone.

Any idea how to remove the sling swivel?

If it is riveted can I grind down one side to clear the rivet, then just knock out the pin? I'm not against just drilling it out but I want to do as little damage as possible to the extension that the swivel attaches to.

Any idea how to remove the sling swivel?

I would try to soak it if it weren't already messed up but the swivel is cracked on one side and should be almost flat to the band and they've bent it.

Any idea how to remove the sling swivel?

I am restoring a near relic French 1777 an IX dragoon musket and the swivels are seized. I wouldn't mind but the previous owner bent and broke them. Is there a secret to removing these and installing new ones assuming rifle shoppe has them?

This is the French model 1777 with corrections made in the ninth year of Revolutionary France also known as the Year Nine musket. FOR SALE Dutch type II original musket stock with American modifications

I think this was likely shipped as parts to the colonies. It came to me like this with a French cut out for side plate as well as rounded tang for a French barrel. I assume the lock was also. It has a barrel band spring for the front band. Stock barrel channel is 38" long so probably for a 42"...

WITHDRAWN Pattern 1742 British Brown Bess, original, project

My car needs repairs so I'm putting up a few projects to see if there is any interest on here. I bought this will a barrel that turned out to be a Liege Short Land so I figured I would sell it separately. Good early Long Land parts hard to find. Original butt plate, trigger guard/trigger/plate...
