    But the majority of time isn't spent galloping. Why issue mess kits? Have you ever tried eating beans while galloping on a horse? Even drinking from a canteen while at the trot is difficult (without bashing your teeth in). Still, it is handy to have a canteen.

    I avoid Walmart whenever I can, for other reasons than 2A. Still, sometimes I shop there. We get stuff where we get stuff. No big retailer is your friend. It is convenient that walmart is always open.

    IDK but one advantage of muzzleloaders is that you can Taylor the load to what you are doing. A 10 Gage unmentionable would be a lot of squirrel or rabbit, especially with a choke. A 10 cylinder bore, with a light powder load, may be great for rabbits, and other fast moving game.

    I have a Traditions PA flintlock, and love it. It is my first (and only so far) muzzleloader, and was a gift from my partner. I had so much fun with it that I soon got her a muzzleloader too :-) Anyway, one important thing to know is that the forward screw that holds the lock in place also...

    I am full of bad ideas. Maybe this is one. How much safety margin is built into the barrels on Traditions (or other common low cost importers) guns? Could you bore one of those .50s out to make it a smooth bore? Would doing so be a more cost effective way to get a fowler? Money is tight...

    Just thought about it more. I no longer have any unmentionables with Cerakote on them, or I would post a picture of how it can be worn off. I sold those thing off years ago and never did that process to anything since. Seeing a black powder gun with it would be worse than those flintlocks...

    Well if it holds up there it would probably hold up in a gun barrel. One minute of runtime in a race engine gets more steel on steel contact than a BP rifle sees lead on steel in a lifetime. Even with those engines getting rebuild after every race, there are a lot of revolutions in one race...

    My understanding is that cermachrome is mostly a heat barrier. It is also partly aluminum, so I don't know how well it will hold up in the shooting process
