How far must you travel to hunt?

When I lived in a suburb south of Houston, TX it used to take me 1.5hrs to get to my hunting spots in the SHNF. Now that I live in the Texas Hill Country I'm looking at a 3.5hr drive. I can't afford to hunt private land in the state.

Schuetzen 4 wing musket caps ..school me please

Been busting thru several thousand of em for a while... nothing corrosive that I can see from my end. Mercuric priming compounds really isn't a thing anymore.

    54 Rifled or Smooth Bore?

Could talk to Bobby Hoyt and see if there is enough meat on a Kibler barrel to have it bored out to a 62. Looking at my 58 I wouldn't think so, but then I look at my Fusil De Chasse barrel and I begin to scratch my head.... Yes you sacrifice range but inside of 50 yards you'll kill whatever...

Thoughts on why he shoots to the right.

I went thru this with all of my flinters, and even started a thread on here that was long... very long. A lot of good advice, things tried, problem persisted... no flinch, nothing funny. Just adjusted my sights to compensate and moved on with life.

Can you see what I'm doing wrong?

Figured I'd give up an update. Recently picked up an already built Kibler SMR in 40cal, at our BPCR Silhouette State Championship, and spent some time shooting it yesterday. I only had some .380 roundballs and some pillow ticking, so I wasn't getting exceptional accuracy, maybe about 2" at 50...

Can you see what I'm doing wrong?

I had just knocked down half of pot #2 of coffee when I took that video... I was a jittery for sure. Maybe that's the issue? :dunno: I got a piece I'm chiseling down right now to make one. Just fine. All shots on an 8" plate at 100 yards, except for the last shot which I put on the IPSC...

Can you see what I'm doing wrong?

Still don't see anything. I'll get video at the range next week of live fire and see what changes. If I still don't see a flinch but shots are still getting thrown then I will change up my stance and try a shotgun stance. I think it's obvious at this point like everyone has said, I'm pulling the...

Can you see what I'm doing wrong?

Hell hath no fury like a wife who gets a shard of flint in her foot from one of those "stinky old guns you like to shoot".

Can you see what I'm doing wrong?

I put my replies to your questions in bold under each paragraph. I think you guys are misinterpreting what I'm telling you with the lock, there is NOTHING WRONG with the lock. I have the leather wrapped around the FRONT of the flint to keep it from showering my living room with sparks and...

Can you see what I'm doing wrong?

Nothing wrong with the lock. The thick leather I have wrapped around the flint puts it at a weird angle and doesn't flip the frizzen open all the way. It doesn't happen with just a flint in the jaws.

    Practice makes perfect.

Can you see what I'm doing wrong?

Like I said, if you have a better stance for shooting these rifles then I'm all ears. Fingertips, palm, doesn't matter, it's about finding natural point of aim, and two of the men I shoot with are multi-time state and national champs, one shoots fingers, one shoots palm, but again, if the...

Can you see what I'm doing wrong?

I'll take video tomorrow with some flash in the pan like I said. I'm ready to get to the bottom of this. If I am looking at the flash and flinching, the camera will tell the story.

Can you see what I'm doing wrong?

I don't think I'm getting any spray back? If I am I'm not noticing it. Thanks. I've spent hours with my match rifle dry firing at a dot on the wall. I'm not as steady as the video appears, doing a small figure 8. It depends, my 40 with the colerain barrel and round bottom rifling doesn't care...

Can you see what I'm doing wrong?

The frizzen is falling back on top of the flint. It doesn't do that when there isn't a thick piece of leather wrapped around it.

Can you see what I'm doing wrong?

I hate to mention unmentionables, and caplocks, but it's the closest thing I can relate to. I spend a lot of time on load development, on every gun, whether it's muzzleloader, blackpowder cartridge, or smokeless cartridge. The load I shoot out of all of my flinters is the best possible load that...

Can you see what I'm doing wrong?

It is. I think the fellas that think I may be flinching when there is some thunder in the pan is probably what is going on, it's the only thing that makes sense. The break might be clean, but where it goes wrong is that millisecond between the pan charge igniting and the rifle firing, and it all...

Can you see what I'm doing wrong?

My stance is the typical Schuetzen shooting stance which is used for 200m off hand in my chosen shooting sport with the typical "figure 8", so if you have a better way of shooting off hand then what is taught by professional off hand shooters and has been for over 100 years now then by all...

Can you see what I'm doing wrong?

I shoot these things a lot, but I've just been compensating for the shift in POI... some guns I've given up on, like my Kibler, I just can't control it once it's off a rest apparently. It just seems strange to me that the POI will shift so dramatically, or group size in the case of the Kibler...

Can you see what I'm doing wrong?

I made this video hoping to show you guys what I'm doing, and see if anyone can help me out here... I'm at the point of losing sleep over this now. Any, and all help, is greatly appreciated. Help me shoot better!
