Where to find real 32 Caliber soft lead Ball for the tiny BP Revolvers

Yes it does have a bit of antimony, but I have used it in my pocket 1863 Remmy with no apparent issues. Haven't used #00 but I have read and been told it is hard to load in the little pistols. As far as accuracy the "pocket" revolvers have been known from the day they were first manufactured...

    Value of CVA Pisto Kit

Don't have the skills and/or knowledge to build it you say? No time like now to start and no better place to begin acquiring those skills, than with a CVA kit. Thousands, including myself, started down the muzzleloader and building road right there with a CVA kit, or two. I built at least...

3F powder vs. 2F in .54cal flintlock rifle

The initial detonation can be a factor in projectile obturation and thus on the seal created, projectile to bore. The less the dwell time of the pressure curve the quicker the push and the more the projectile will obturate. More noticeable with hollow base bullets, and especially between black...

3F powder vs. 2F in .54cal flintlock rifle

As far as recoil, all else being equal (bullet weight, velocity, weight of the rifle, etc) the recoil is going to be the same. The pressure curve on the 3F, since it has smaller grains and theoretically will ignite faster (lots of variables there too) may be a little steeper, making the dwell...

Does anyone make/sell something like a snap cap cone to dry fire a revolver?

Get a length of clear vinyl tubing (like that used in aquarium pumps) that friction fits over the nipple and cut it just longer than the surface of the nipple to cushion the blow from the hammer.. I have also heard that in times of need, this setup can be tweaked to be used to hold the ignition...

    Canadian Happenings and Other Nastiness

Remember there are Democrats here, that vote for and support the party that has made a living off of creating hate and divisiveness to keep them in power and wealth.

    Dixie Gun Works;

I was there 4-5 years ago, not what they once were but still worth the visit if you are in the neighborhood.

    Flints?

Looks good. You seem to have received a larger proportion of the amber (supposedly French) ones than I did. I found them to be somewhat better

    Artax firearms, anybody?

What doesn't have a big price tag these days? The shotgun seems pretty well priced, in comparison to what we have available here from Pedersoli. The others, for what they are also aren't that far out of line.

    Keeping an 1858 loaded indefinitely

Reminds me I have a CVA SXS in the safe that has been loaded for the last 4-5 years. Used to goose hunt with it with a friend, and the last time we went out I put it away loaded as I hadn't had a shot, thinking we would be going back out soon, unfortunately he passed away shortly thereafter...

    Converting to musket caps?

They come and they go. I don't know how much you shoot, but I generally start looking when I get below half a carton. It can be months between times they are in stock.

    Converting to musket caps?

I've got a Navy Arms/Zoli Zouave that I bought used that came with both musket and regular nipples. No problems with using either one, the problem comes in when trying to find the less common musket caps. I usually order them by the thousand when they come into stock at Graf's or elsewhere.

    Keeping an 1858 loaded indefinitely

Its like canned food. Its good, until it isn't. Time and expiration dates mean nothing. If you are staking your life on it, then check it every so often.

    Musket Caps?

Both these places say they have them. I have never done business with nor can vouch for either, perhaps someone else has experience with them. https://vortexreloads.com/product/rws-musket-caps/ https://reloadingdepotusa.com/product/rws-musket-caps/

Trying to stay out of trouble, here!

Basically, we are talking about everything and anything historically traditional prior to any brass cartridge using arm, be it an original or copy. So, no cartridges, no modern (post 1865) designs and no making black powder and that's about it. You will find some minor exceptions but that is...

    Canadian Happenings and Other Nastiness

Nice area. Interesting little corner of the world, from historical, geographic, sociological, colonial, agricultural, economic, linguistic, martial and political perspectives. Most don't realize the effects it has had on the rest of both countries
