    Brass 51 identification

That's a Pietta stamp and you were right the date code is 1970.

First the ammo now the guns????

I talked with a nice lady in sales at EMF a few weeks ago. She told me that Italy has gone back into full lock down again due to the most recent surge in Covid cases. She said that Pietta told them to not expect significant inventory until late this year.

Loads For Brass Framed 1851 Colt Navy 36 cal

It's a Pietta and by the AB date stamped on the brass frame it should have been made in 1976. Personally the brass frame concerns in a .36 may be a bit overstated imo. The charges aren't that big in a .36 to begin with so I wouldn't be too concerned. If you stretch the frame after a few...

    Revisiting prescription Shooting Glasses

I had some made a little over a year ago. I discussed with the Dr. what I needed and he had a pretty good solution. He took my numbers with focal distances of 12", 24" and 36" and then split the difference. It has worked pretty well for me although not ideal. I saw these the other day and it...

What's the best temp for casting RB's?

I was wondering if there is a consensus on the best temperature for casting round balls??

    Roung ball muzzle Velocity

I agree with you to a point but having been a 3 position rimfire competitor when I was younger I cannot stress enough the importance of follow through as it relates to muzzle velocity. The lower the velocity the longer the dwell time in the barrel i.e. the harder to keep on target this would be...

Too cold to shoot time to cast!

So it was 22 degrees here in Ft. Worth yesterday so I went to the garage and churned out some roundballs for my Navy's!

    The Wedge

A number of my revolvers require a punch and hammer to get the wedge out. Would a replacement wedge solve this? I think some of them the spring tension on the wedge itself is too much. Is there a way to modify it?

Pyrodex pellets in a revolver...any one use these?

I bought 4 of them and a couple of boxes of Speer round balls the total price was $136.43. Midway only charges $11.99 for Hazmat and the shipping was $10.40. That would be around $89 for 4 hundred of them I think?

Pyrodex pellets in a revolver...any one use these?

I just remembered I bought some of these a few weeks ago with my Midway birthday discount. They were $17 a piece plus shipping and hazmat.

    Wonder Seals??

So I bought some of these out of curiousity and yes I know they are not a necessity but they are cool! Totally for lazy people which is me...I can't wait to try them at the range.

Pyrodex pellets in a revolver...any one use these?

Dustin, of the "Guns of The West" YouTube channel did a review a little more than a year ago. He found them pretty consistent. I'm not necessarily advocating for them but it might be interesting to try a few. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer...

Pyrodex pellets in a revolver...any one use these?

They make specific revolver pellets with a 30 grain charge in .44 cal.

Has anyone tried a "Franken gun"?

Since inventory is so scare right now I'm considering see if I can get the parts together to make a Pietta/Uberti revolver thingy. I see the frames with the arbor may be difficult to get but I wonder how much fitting is required?

Anyone alter their shooting because of shortages?

You make some good points. I had a very nice phone conversation with a rep from EMF last week. They told me that Italy has gone back into lockdown atm but plans on reopening in April. They(EMF) expect to have more inventory by August/Sept. of this year.

Anyone alter their shooting because of shortages?

Please let me explain...I know in the past it was a fairly common practice to dry fire some caps on empty chambers to clear the nipples before a shooting session. However, with the required acoutrements being in short supply I am now using a nipple pick to clear any grease or oil obstruction...
