    Ball molds

Sometime ago someone posted a link to an English fellow that sold brass round ball molds. Since there are none to be had here for a reasonable price I was wondering if I might findout who that was?

Getting back to shooting black powder now that I am retired

The RWS 1075 caps while considered to be #11's actually fit the Italian made reproduction revolvers quite well.

    Trigger issues

Afternoon gents. Last weekend I took my Traditions Hawken Woodsman apart and noticed the set trigger no longer worked. Even after completely disassembling the rifle and cleaning and lubing everything it still doesn't "set" The front trigger works fine however but I'm wondering is there someway...

Now why did I let this sit for 20 years????

I'm trying to decide why I let this sit over a bookcase for 20 years without shooting it. Took it out Thursday for the first time and had so much fun shooting it. I don't think Pietta makes this anymore. Brass frame obviously, 61' style 5 1/2" bbl and in .36 caliber. I had to pound the heck...

    How about EMF???

They have some of the lowsest prices on Pietta revolvers I've seen but nothing in stock. I did reach out to customer service however and they tell me that they are expecting a replenishment order at the end of this month. I was also told that much of that will go to fullfill backorders. Any...

Has anyone ever ordered from Jack's Powder Keg in LA?

I wonder if he's up to date on his inventory and actually has stuff. 25lbs is a bit much for me so I may ask someone locally if they would be interested in splitting an order.

Has anyone ever ordered from Jack's Powder Keg in LA?

I'm curious if anyone has ever ordered from him? He has some of the lowest prices I've seen on Goex.

    Sharpshooter cap maker

I suspect we will slowly but steadily see a supply of the European made caps like RWS etc. The Europeans are not experiencing the same increase in demand and muzzleloading is a very big sport in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, France and many countries in Eastern Europe.

    Midway

Been doing business with Midway for at least 25 years if not more. Never had any issues the Pandemic has slowed things down...much. That said I've been recently ordering from Midway and get stuff in usually 3-4 days to N. Texas.

    Lets see some percussion revolvers!

Without a doubt my favorite percussion revolver. A Uberti 1861 Navy shot many times and still in beautiful condition. I completely tore her apart and cleaned her this weekend after being in storage for at least 20 years. I also installed some Slixshot nipples while I was at it.

    Lets see some percussion revolvers!

Here is the first black powder firearm I have ever purchased. A Pietta/Traditions 1851 "Navy" in .44 caliber. Following Dustin's excellent video on YouTube I completely dissasembled and cleaned it over the weekend. I don't remember exactly when I purchased this revolver I think it was around...

Replacement rod for my Traditions Hawken Woodsman?

There are plenty of good options and there have been some good recommendations above. I really really like the OxYoke "Rugged ramrods" They are slightly flexible and are made either from fiber glass or maybe delrin?? I'm not sure all I know is I have several of them and they work great.

    Best oil for rust prevention

Lol...this was like asking is vanilla or chocolate icecream better? That said, I echo what many have already said there are many good oils on the market. On modern firearms I use CLP but for my front stuffers I have used that Traditions/OxYoke Wonderlube liquid stuff. However, I am becoming...

    A source for caps???

Does anyone have a source for caps?? I bought some a month or so ago but I need more and can't seem to find any online. Dixie has some with a 2 tin limit but w/ hazmat that's cost prohibitive. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Shooting Minie's out of Armi Sport 1861 Springfield

So I believe from what I read today my Armi Sport 1861 Sprinfield has a 1/66 twist rate. I realize that means its optimized for round ball and it's been at 20 years since I shot it. I have cast and shot Lee's 58 cal Minie from it and I don't remember there being issues but I have no clue what...
