    Question on mould

I spoke with Pedersoli and interestingly they suggested the best load they've seen for the Indian trade gun is 60 grains of 2F a .614 ball and a 0.010 patch. Sounds like a tight combination. They said a maximum powder charge of 80 grains 2F which surprises me. I would have thought it could go...

    Flintlock First Firing

Maybe at the range, but if that's considered reasonable in the field flintlocks may not be right for me. Good to know though.

    Where to hunt

Does anyone in the states do still hunting for bears? Before I'm planted I want to do a few trips to the states and one of them is specifically to hunt a black bear. Here we hunt from the ground and I'd like to do that if possible.

    Cornfield Buck

I would love to see a photo of the jaw. Collecting jaws to me is far more interesting than collecting sheds.

    Question on mould

No I want one, but there's no shipping to Australia from the US at the moment. I'm having to go to the UK

    Question on mould

The whole problem is I can't find anyone with a ball to fit my bore to try. So I'm relying on getting something imported. I was happy to just get a Callahan bag mould at .600 and cast from there. Based on cost I'm probably not going to get a .595, .600 and .610 mould. I'm just trying to figure...

    Question on mould

Hi, I'm looking to order a mould for the 20G smoothie for round ball. From what I've read here a .600 ball with a .010 patch being slightly under bore of a .620 bore would be a good place to start. I can't get anything out of the states at the moment with the usps suspension of shipping here...

    Maxi balls?

Just a few weeks ago a mate of mine dropped a fallow doe (whitetail doe size) on the spot with my .54 and .535 prb from 108 yards. Some people really underestimate the humble round ball. She's taken many a game for centuries.

    Hawken rifles

You could also try the sister forum modernmuzzleloader.com it is probably a better resource for that type of question. I think of here as flintlocks, roundballs and anything around oldie times e.g. horns. Modernmuzzleloader.com is more about inlines, conicals, sabots and shooting further...

    Looking for first flintlock

Thank you, Out of curiosity, what does having an undersized flint do?

    Looking for first flintlock

Does anyone know the size flint for a pedersoli trade gun? I saw on muzzleloaders.com they say a 5/8" but that seems small. Keen to get it sorted before the gun arrives.

    Eastern CO buck

Beautiful buck mate, I'm dreaming of something like that when I get to the states. Keep up the good work 👍

20G fowler - loads and tips?

We don't have nitro cards here, would a card then wad, the shot then wad potentially work? I get that it's practice just hoping for some general direction.

Value for money powder horn and shooting pouch

I use pre measured powder and carry balls loose in my pouch at the moment, but when deer hunting I rarely fire more than 1 shot and never more than 4. For bird and small game with shot I feel like I'll need more of both than I can fit in tubes.

20G fowler - loads and tips?

My preferred shot size for smokeless shotguns is 5 or 6, can't shoot ducks with lead anymore so use 3 or 4 in steel. I'll get some 8s or 10s for rabbits and quail. I'll try those volumetric measurements and wad combinations and see how it goes.
