Long time lurker on here. First post here, I'm a long time lover of the TC hawken. I now have 2 54s and a 50. Wanting to get these to shooting and extending the range as I'm wanting to take one of them out west. Anyone have good loads to start with? Not really a patched round ball shooter as I've stuck with conical types. My oldest 54 shoots 425gr maxiballs pretty well.

Welcome from Oklahoma.
You might try some Hornady 240 grain PA conicals. They are designed for a slower twist barrel but they shoot great out of 3 of my 50 caliber 1/48 twist rifles

You could also try the sister forum modernmuzzleloader.com it is probably a better resource for that type of question.

I think of here as flintlocks, roundballs and anything around oldie times e.g. horns.

Modernmuzzleloader.com is more about inlines, conicals, sabots and shooting further.

Idaholewis and idaho Ron have some great threads on there about it. I'm currently looking to extend the range on my fast twist hawken and it's a great resource.
