Where are all you Aussies and Kiwis!?

I always thought archaeology would have been an incredible job, to dig through old carthage would be one of my life's highlights! Don't underestimate them, they're good at killing, the old sphere of lead!

Where are all you Aussies and Kiwis!?

What's your interest? If it's flintlock and round ball this is the place. If it's caplocks or inlines with conicals/sabots the sister forum Modernmuzzleloader.com is a better place for that.

Good bullet mold for 50cal. fast twist?

Check out the sister forum, lots of good info on that stuff there.

    Brewing, anyone?

The IPA fad has ender, now it's hip to drink sour beers... Dr Smurto's Golden Ale all grain recipe is one of my favourites. I pretty much only brew my own recipes now though.

    Flint doe

Great work, that's a solid achievement.

Where are all you Aussies and Kiwis!?

I'm glad to see that page is going well still, I created that year's ago when I got into black powder and didn't know anyone else that did it. Deactivated Facebook and passed on the group to others but glad to see its going strong.

First buck with Kibler Flintlock--thanks to the forum

Beautiful gun, buck and shooting. Nothing beats taking an animal with a blackpowder. Someday I'll get myself a whitetail hopefully. What calibre and load were you using?

Where are all you Aussies and Kiwis!?

I'm Vic so no help there, but I will say I've never met another BP shooter face to face and have still managed to get all the information I needed from forums. Having said that I'm a hunter not a target shooter. But there is a plethora of information available and plenty of people willing to share.

    Waiting game has started.

Did you use an importer/gun shop for that or import it yourself?

    My 50 caliber rifle...is not a 50 caliber rifle

Who's to say it's the gun? Have you ever weighed a batch of round balls and seen the variation? Have you ever checked the thickness of the patches you buy? Both can vary a lot from what the packet says.

    Kibler Fowler News - anything???

He talked about a hawken after the fowler in one YouTube video.

The "full size" Pedersoli muzzleloaders... somewhat rare?

Are there any point of difference between them? I have a couple of hawken caplocks and an Indian trade gun but would like a flintlock rifle. I looked at the frontier and pennsylvania/dixie. Other than barrel length the only real difference I can see is that the frontier ($1700aud) is cheaper...

The "full size" Pedersoli muzzleloaders... somewhat rare?

I think the only barrel Pedersoli do over 40" is the Pennsylvania (41 5/8") that comes in 38 or 45 cal. Next is frontier that is a 39" barrel. The alamo, kentucky and Indian trade gun all around around 36". In percussion the rocky mountain hawken (my favourite) is a 34 5/8" barrel. I own...

    Unacceptable kit condition?

Not wanting to derail this thread, But as I've said before I've found kiblers communication poor, last two emails never received a reply. I heard from another Aussie since that they're refusing to send their kits here because they don't want to stamp Serial numbers on the barrel. Next in line...

    How to barn tan leather?

That was just an example, I'd like to do other things with it too. Brain tanning I know nothing about, any resources relating to that would be appreciated.

    Entered the Flintlock fraternity

I don't mean to be rude or an ahole, I just don't want the thread to be completely derailed as can happen.

    Entered the Flintlock fraternity

With all due respect, you have neither liked nor commented on this thread in regard to the topic I.e. me taking my first flintlock kill. The only contribution you've made is to *** at the other guys suggestion about graphite. I'm not interested in my threads being used as platforms for arguments...

    Entered the Flintlock fraternity

Makes sense to me, any little thing that creates tension could hold up the powder a little I suppose. I did as you said prior to heading out and used an alcohol wipe on the pan, hammer and flint. My pan is very textured though, might need to polish it up a bit.

I did give it a tap, but the few grains hanging around the flash hole wouldn't budge. I could flick them out easily with grass so there wasn't any oil or anything is the way. I think it's just another one of those trial and error things.

    Entered the Flintlock fraternity

After doing a few practice shots last week I was keen to take it for a hunt. Managed to sneak into 20 yards of this hare and managed to take my first flintlock kill on my first flintlock outing! Thanks to all that have given me advice along the way. One thing of note, when stalking no matter...
