    Bowie Knife stick tang

OK I went back and scanned through some of the info on the recovered items. It seems there were only two partial makers marks on the "Bowie" knives. At least one of them indicates that it may have been Spanish made. There is one more on this forum that has a lot greater knowledge than I on this...

    Sights off center

Is this rifle new? If it is I would send it back! If not check the front sight to see if it is bent. I have a Traditions St. Louis Hawken and not liking the plastic sights that they come with I made a front sight. The problem was that the dovetail for the front sight was filed/ground at an...

    Breech Inspection

I am not your expert you are looking for but please explain this part of your statement! Quote: It seems a little loose to me, like the threads are worn. Are you able to move it when it is in the barrel? Have you removed it and that is why you feel it is loose? Pics would make it a whole lot...

How often do you use your set trigger?

Every time I pull a trigger! :slap: Seriously I don't like the pull of the trigger when the set trigger hasn't been set! Once I am on and have my breathing right, I don't want too play and the trigger is set for the lightest of touches! :haha: I let my son shoot it a couple of times and told...

They use to use a cadmium based primer when painting aluminum john-boats A boat man once told me this tip. I was talking to him about the high cost of cadmium based paint,to use as a primer on an aluminum boat! You can paint aluminum with an oil based stain and it will bond to aluminum as...

    stitching leather

Once you learn the process of two needle stitching you will only use a stitching awl if totally necessary! The two needle process, to me makes a better and a much easier stitch once you catch on to it! IMHO

    safety question

I am assuming that prb stands for patched round ball. As long as the patched ball is tight, and button are tight on the powder she ought to be good to go. I use Goex so couldn't tell you how much she'll kick  using your powder but she should be safe!
