    Rick is correct about untreated steel wool. Or you can put it in a fire safe container (steel bucket, outside) pour charcoal starter on it and light it off! Once the fire goes out the protective coating will be burnt off and it is good to go in the vinegar!

    BP, basically has no shelf life unless exposed to moisture and then it can be dried out and I have seen it exposed to high heat and saw no problems after ward! Now that is BP not a sub! Look at it this way they still occasionally discover some left over from the civil war and the powder in it...
