    When you make friends with a roofer you're never short of lead. The mold is home made from an old piece of angle iron and a short section of galvanized water pipe. The ingots average about 1 ½ lbs.

    Hatfield rifle

    It's a browned finish CritterGetter. The finish is not as smooth and polished as the Pedersoli model. It's more of a very dark brown color as opposed to the lighter brown of the Pedersoli. The camera didn't pick up the true color very well.

    The deer aren't deader with more powder, but the trajectory is flatter. If your typical hunting situation is 75 yards or less, velocity is of little concern. If you situation presents 150 yard shots, higher velocity is a nice thing to have.

    Hatfield 50 Caliber Flintlock

    I have two Hatfields, an early caplock by the Hatfield company and a flintlock "Hatfield" by Pedersoli. Both are excellent shooters. Lots of balls have gone through those barrels with never a problem. Fine rifles both.
