Pedersoli Scout .32 cal Kit Help

Clean your file. That looks like what's caused by a "pin" or a shaving that's wrung itself to the file's teeth. I use a fine wire brush on mine and then rub the teeth with common blackboard chalk to help minimize pinning. One of my mentors used light machine oil on his files and did just fine...

Looks like a fine job on the buttplate. Keep doing that! :thumb:

Pedersoli Scout .32 cal Kit Help

I'm seeing a decent/average amount of wood work to be done there. The following is MY OPINION ONLY so you may want to wait and see what others say before you act on any of my ideas... Those grooves around the lock panel are finishing cuts to help guide you into where the rest of the stock is...

    R&S 1865

From 1990. Man, that is a beautiful thing!

    Charcoal

Willow is essentially nonexistent in my neck of the woods. I don't recall ever seeing one growing out in the wild. The ones I've seen were planted as ornamentals around someone's pond or creek. Bush honeysuckle on the other hand, is literally everywhere around here. Although I've done no...

Any woodcock down is a miracle in my book.

why am i so addicted to revolvers ?

I own a bunch of modern guns that are mostly collecting dust nowadays because of ammo prices. Making my own black powder and casting lead and so forth pretty thoroughly insulates me from the ridiculous prices of modern ammunition and the associated panic of trying to find any to buy. Saving...

    Lyman GPR

I had a ruined .54 GPR that got opened up to .56 smooth and it was a hoot. Performed well with both ball and shot, and I would not hesitate to do it again!

    Fitting a smaller width barrels

I like the brass idea and would probably run with that. I fitted a 13/16" replacement barrel to a 7/8" channel earlier this year and used 1/32"maple "purfling" used by guitar makers to shim up the barrel channel, which worked well. That was a permanent swap however, and it seems attaching shims...

Some information for those interested in buying the 1859 Sharps (Be it from Chiappa or Pedersoli)

That's seriously helpful info, and thanks for sharing it! I've never owned a '59 Sharps, preferring instead the '74. I've never owned a Sharps in one of the "mainstream" calibers because making ammo for them seems to be such a big part of the overall experience. Also, the oddball chamberings...

    Pyrodex P

When my dad acquired our first BP revolver back in the mid-70's, Pyrodex is what the gun shop recommended so that's what we shot for a long time. The revolver was a .44 cal 1858 Remington repro and we must've shot twenty pounds of Pyrodex through it over the next few years. Not a single hiccup...

    ID Scope Mount

Yessir, the Picatinny MIL-STD-1913 rail. Looks like the old Weaver bases but is just a very little bit different, and has pretty much became the standard for modern military firearms. Here's a Wiki link if anyone would like to read a little more about it: Picatinny rail - Wikipedia Good luck...

Need help with 2F or 3F in a .32 cal rifle

What TreeMan said. I usually start with 20 grains of either 2f or 3f and work up from there when starting out with a new .32 rifle.

    range rod

I make a specific local style of wooden ramrod for all my black powder guns and use that for everything.

    ID Scope Mount

I'm pretty sure that's for a 13" MLOK forend like you'd find on an AR-15. Not at all what you'll need for conventional mounting on your Bobcat. It could probably be made to work if you milled the bottom flat and then drilled the rail to match your barrel's hole pattern. A lot of work, but it...

Pedersoli Scout .32 cal Kit Help

That's pretty consistent with my Dixie experience, and I'm sure they're facing a tremendous surge in orders like everyone else. Most orders of mine seem to sit "in shipping" for several days while they're working their way down to mine, but the order eventually updates to shipped. I bought an...

    CLOSED T/C New Englander Barrel

I'm looking for a Thompson Center New Englander barrel, preferably complete, for use with my rifle. I'm wanting to do a .62/20ga rebore and refinish so caliber and condition isn't especially important. Would also be interested in one of the original 12ga barrels (screw-in or fixed choke), should...

    T/C Hawken

Those are nice guns. I've got an old four-digit .45 kit gun that's been around here for years and although I don't shoot it much anymore, can't really imagine ever getting rid of it. Have you had a chance to shoot this one yet?

Pedersoli Scout .32 cal Kit Help

I've found that hacksaw blades can be fashioned into fine little inletting chisels, if you're working on a budget and learn how it's done. Like George said above, it'll be fine.
