Pedersoli Scout .32 cal Kit Help

I don't have any experience with the Scout but I've owned a number of Pedersoli muzzleloaders, AND I've recently acquired a Crockett kit to fool with this winter. The Crockett I ended up with is something of a trash fire, with multiple issues throughout that will take considerable work to...

Finished a Horn for my Smoothbore

I like how it turned out. Your aging looks very nicely done from over here!

    Wood carver mallets

I've seen small bundles of firewood for sale at local gas stations/quickie marts. I guess they're for sale to campers and folks who burn their fireplace once or twice a year? Anyway, I notice some really nice mallets in those bundles every time I walk by. Just a possible option if you don't...

    Crockett rifle questions

I got one of these a couple of weeks ago in the form of a brand new kit that I wasn't really looking for, but the price was just too good to pass up. I'd say a lot of cleaning will be needed to get the protective grease out of the bore. I'm not surprised to hear your barrel is tighter toward the...

What is this muzzleloader part called?

Seems like most people find this job pretty easy, while me and a few others struggle mightily. I can confirm that it got a lot easier for me when I learned to completely remove it and start over from scratch.

What is this muzzleloader part called?

Good point! I should've specified that the names I used are common terms here in my part of the US. These components likely have different names all around the world.

    Pedersoli brown bess

If anyone near Cincinnati, OH is looking for a Pedersoli Bess, the local Bass Pro Shop is showing "Limited Stock" on their website for $999.99 this morning. That would seem to suggest they have at least one available at the sale price.

    Pedersoli brown bess

I hear a lot of chatter about $6-700 but when I've actually FOUND a Pedersoli Bess to lay hands on in the past couple of years, it's been comfortably north of $1k. I'd love to have another one because mine was a fantastic shooter and fun as could be, but not $1500 worth.

    Ruger Old Army Range Report

My dad was a huge fan of ROA's, and for good reason. I'd love to run across one at a bargain price. I'll bet the Pachmayr grip really helps with accuracy.

    Hickory Dowels

I generally order from TOTW about every two weeks and have never seen these offered before. A couple of weeks ago our local Lowe's stopped carrying the oak dowels I've always used for various woodworking projects, so this deal couldn't have popped up at a much better time. Splitting hickory for...

    Hickory Dowels

Just to eliminate any and all confusion... Neither I nor TOTW are promoting these dowels as ramrods! This is an outstanding price on 48" hickory dowels if you have a use for them and I just wanted to point out the opportunity.

    Hickory Dowels

Another good use! I figured there wasn't much way to go wrong at that price, especially considering how quickly I seem to burn through dowels.

    Hickory Dowels

I was putting together an order at TOTW this morning and saw they're offering a 100pc bundle of mixed diameter 48" long hickory dowels for $9.99 + shipping. These are clearly described as NOT being ramrod quality, but I'm betting there will be a couple of decent ones in there. I make a lot of...

    Question on pinned barrel

I disassemble mine for cleaning, but I don't think that's the norm. Just how I saw someone else do it back in the day when I was first getting into muzzleloading and it stuck.

    I absolutely cannot wait!....

Man, I hope this works out for you! For many years I lived near Kentucky's Green River and hunted waterfowl there. Fond memories for sure. Good luck, and please let us know how it goes!

Reamer Made to Correct a Cannon Bore

Well, here's a great story in the making. Excellent work on that reamer of course, not to mention the cannon!

    Pedersoli Kentucky Pistol Kit

Yes sir, I think you've improved that kit substantially. I hope you'll keep the progress reports and photos coming!

Value for money powder horn and shooting pouch

A good and reasonable question. It would've been more accurate to say "Making MY own gear extended MY knowledge base and GAVE ME a deeper connection to the roots of MY pursuit." It's easy to assume that my experience is not all that different from that of others; that making what gear one could...

Value for money powder horn and shooting pouch

I will always vote for self made, even if not historically correct. Making your own gear extends your knowledge base and seems to give a deeper connection to the roots of our pursuit. Just my $.02 of course, and I hope you find something that suits you!
