    Worth The Risk?

Apparently, the hole goes all the way into the stock and the ramrod is full length. Good idea, but the downside would be a weakened grip where long guns often break.

    Worth The Risk?

You’ll need a new ramrod. The one that’s in it looks about half as long as is needed. One problem with black powder firearms is that people expect to clean them like a modern firearm and give up after pulling out patch after patch of tar. Some folks have the patience of Job and clean their BP...

    Book Question

I am not aware of a Shooter’s Bible for muzzleloaders. They have a smattering of blackpowder firearms in that publication, but to my knowledge there is no place to find a who’s who of muzzleloading, except this forum. But wait, what is this “Blue Book of Modern Black Powder Arms”. Only 60 bucks.

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Took out the shotgun to be sure that it isn’t rusting unexpectedly somewhere. Looks pretty good.

What kind of stuff do you all read?

I can’t get enough non-fiction. I’ll get stuck on some subject and go on a tear. I know many on here love McManus as much as I do. On those lines I’ve also read a lot of Bill Heavey. I am not a motorcycle enthusiast, but have read a lot of autobiographies and biographies of 1%ers. I just...

Welcome from AZ. Your mountains look very similar to mine. The trees in your picture look very similar to the Ponderosa pines in the high country of the Southwest here.

    Howdy

I know that area. There used to be a dive bar there called Four Kings. The light rail goes through there now. I thought that Bizarre Guitar was over there too, but Google says the are on 7th Street. Maybe they moved?

Please tell me it can be fixed

Looks like that may be heartwood? I like the way it looks, but I’m sure for some that dark spots like that could be thought of as a fault. I think it adds great character.

You're going to be a colonist....

I only own two muzzleloading weapons. The .69 Springfield and the Pedersoli SxS 12ga. I would bring the Pedersoli, since it’s 2 guns for the price of one, can be used with solid lead or shot or both at the same time and is much lighter then the Springfield. I could help the colony as a...

Most Authentic looking non firing Bess ???

I would take a regular Bess, make sure it was not loaded by using the ramrod and then a flashlight. Once it is confirmed empty, glue a hunter orange plastic plug into the muzzle. If some day you want to shoot the gun, you could ream out the plastic and restore it to functional.
