Thompson Center questions
not to sound conformist, but i concur with the consensus: a 3/8 rod will do you fine once you sand it down. I would splurge for a range rod as well. Flint size sounds about fight ... i like the Fuller flints, but French Amber work OK as well. For best accuracy, look at this...- MSW

Stock blank size question.
figure out your barrel length and that will "drive the train" on how long to make the blank ... i would go with 64 to 68 inches ... you want at least ten inches at the butt and i like three at the muzzle ... as far as thickness, i go with three, but that's just me ... it will take about three...- MSW

Maple finish
by way of 'heads up - i tried this and when i put the barrel in the channel to get all the other parts organized, there was flash rust where the aqua fortis had been. I you fo use this trick, you may want to consider sanding away the stained area before you install the barrel on a permanent basis.- MSW

Couple of Questions to ask
if all you want to do is launch some lead and make some smoke, i would recommend that you go with the .50. having said that, you may want to get the .54 as well, but that's just one guy's opinion ... free and doubtless well worth the cost. as regards the Kibler question: i have put several...- MSW
