Acetone/AutoTrans Fluid - Tested to be THE BEST thread penetrating solution going!

I believe the acetone thins the ATF to penetrate tight spaces. The guy who discovered the combination said later that he really meant to say PSF (Power Steering Fluid) and acetone. Try it - PSF/Acetone and see if it doesn't work better. It sure does for me.

For Sale - Parts CVA Kentucky rifle parts - SOLD

The card with your name/date needs to be part of a photo with the stuff for sale, otherwise we don't know if those are pictures off the web. It proves you are in possession of whatever you're selling.

Additional tips on removing stuck nipple

A quarter inch drive should be pretty easy. Any quarter inch socket of whatever size could work - though you'll probably have to grind it to fit. To drive it, use an appropriate allen wrench. For instance, if you've got a quarter inch socket in 3/8ths, turn it upside down on the nipple, then...

    1860 Pietta Army help

I've used a plastic mallet and a popsicle stick. The popsicle stick gets used at the point where the wedge is flush with the surface.

    Uberti deceiving arbor fit

Uberti is owned by Beretta so I don't think it's an inability to meet close tolerance issues. I think they intend to do it right, but the engineering dept hasn't gotten the message. As for the Volvo pistons mating with their matching cylinders - it's not a case of sloppy machining - more a...

    Colt 1851 Navy—120 yards?

Take a look at the lead Capnball picked up from the 75 yard target. Flat flat flat Louis L'Amour said that because people depended on their guns and used them all the time in the west, they got very good with them. He recounted events that seem impossible to me - like a challenge involving...

    Colt 1851 Navy—120 yards?

There's a misconception that black powder guns aren't as powerful as their smokeless equivalent calibers. And I'd say if a 36 or 38 can turn a steel target at 120 yards, it's probably enough to tear a hole in a jacket rather than bouncing off. I wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of that...

    Colt 1851 Navy—120 yards?

Here's the capandball youtube M De Land was talking about. And yes, he's tapping the wedge with his flask.

    Colt 1851 Navy—120 yards?

Anyone want to line up some water bottles at 100 yards and see how many leak?

    Pack rat adventure

So tell us the story. What happened? Did that packrat attack the camera man, er, woman? Getting revenge for being held captive, or possibly because it wanted to stay in the cage where it felt safer?

Possible new option for a cap making tool!

Is the cost $119 while none are available? Then $169 when they are?

Possible new option for a cap making tool!

Very nice! Are we looking at $169 for one of these tools?

    Mike Belleview Video Update

A friend had a knee dislocated and when the paramedics came, they told him the sooner it got relocated, the quicker it would get back to normal. They said they could do it right then and there, or they could take him to the hospital. They said it would make a big difference taking care of it it...

SOLD - Pending funds Pedersoli Harpers Ferry Pistol 58 Cal, rifled, Flintlock (Like new with box)

As it turned out, I'd been logged out (normally I'm always logged in) because the forum wanted me to change my password. I've sure grown to hate passwords! So the problem was on my end. I don't know why the last photo with your screen name didn't show up for me... ?? But it does now.

SOLD - Pending funds Pedersoli Harpers Ferry Pistol 58 Cal, rifled, Flintlock (Like new with box)

It appears you have messages turned off. I see no way to send you a PM. The classified rules are that a slip of paper with your name and date must accompany a photo of the item. If you'd consider offers, get in touch.

I couldn't find a forum that matched this perfectly but this is close enough.

Until we get some actual numbers it's all conjecture which is more powerful. You know, if screened were actually more powerful, then why would manufacturers go through the extra steps of corning? I've looked into the whole process, but have forgotten the benefits of corning, but seem to recall...

    Uberti Walker disassembly

Reminds me of getting the rear brake drum off an old Volvo. Sometimes a puller wouldn't do it, so you left the nut on loose and drove the car around the block. That would break it loose.

    Suggestions—> Broken Screw

I've heard that steel screws are historically correct. Glad you got it out with no damage. When I got my hawken, the head of one of those patch box screws was missing. Of course the shank was still there. Not a big deal, just part of the sweat equity.

My three quarter scale Revolutionary War carriage.

I'll bet those pix are from years ago. Sad story, for sure! If the barrel wasn't full of rust, it might be worth getting it along with the rest of the metal parts. It would be a chance to make changes and do it better second time around.
