    uberti revolver help

None of mine do that. The Pietta 1860, the second gen dragoon or 1851, or the Uberti Walker. Never noticed before the Walker has only one safety pin. My bet is the bolt is a little slow to retract. When the hand tries to rotate the cylinder the bolt is still locking it in place.

    WANTED Butt Plate

If I narrowed it down to 1 5/8 I'd lose the flat mounting edge. Also, I'd be cutting into the stock a ways (it's too long as it is) to fit the plate, so the plate might wind up being narrower than 1 5/8. This is my first butt plate job so I'm being a bit cautious. I'll send you a PM.

    WANTED Butt Plate

I'll have to research what the Virginia style looks like. Would it wreck the plate getting narrowed 3/8"? I should have mentioned this is for a Sporting Sharps with a cheek rest.

    Antique Colt 1860 Army Engraved

Doesn't look chrome plated to me - more like polished. I've got a Pietta that was abused and roughly worked over by the previous owner. I doctored it and finished it up. Once started (removing all the written garbage) it's tough not eliminating it all, and that's what I did. So now it's all...

    Ruger old army loads

Did you measure the balls? Are they actually .457? What about the cylinder bores? Have they been measured? How much powder are you loading? If it doesn't chain fire, then who cares if it shaves lead or not?

    Failure :’(

Hey, this is almost as good as a stuck ball thread. ;) Who woulda figured it'd go to four pages - likely to go more? But I will say, there is something about the aesthetics of a ramrod that wants it close to the length of the barrel. True, there's nothing saying it has to be that way, but...

    WANTED Butt Plate

Need a large butt plate - 5.25x 1.65" I know I can find one from various vendors, but thought I'd see if anyone here has one they don't want any more. I'm more inclined towards a shotgun style (checkered) or a crescent - brass or steel - either works.

    Failure :’(

The length wouldn't bother me, it looks just fine! What WOULD bother me is the gaps of the stock around both sides of the brass ring.

Any idea why the serial number was struck over with the two Rs?

    Hawken Worth

You may be 'no name' but names only matter when you can't see quality. Unfortunately, too many depend on a name to know it's top notch. Nice work! (I wonder if we're related in some way... LOL)(...more than happy to pay for parts!)

Oregon? who are all you guys!

...or MORE is the key word! Twenty is still too close, but better than past years when I lived there. When I got this place it felt like I was on the outer edge of civilization, but now it's way too close.

Nice one! To make sure we're not dealing with a scammer - please include a photo of the walker with your screen name and date.

    Sharps Butt Plate Question

Even with the crescent, it can still be used off the bench with a pad. At what point is a crescent a poor idea? Did they go out of favor with the harder kick of smokeless? Here's a photo of the gun - if I can manage the upload.

    Sharps Butt Plate Question

I see what you mean, Phil - at a 15" LOP, this butt looks really big and it's still 1/2" shorter than Mr T's. Hard to imagine a Sharps with such a big butt! Must have come from a shotgun. But it does look like it would be right after a little grinding. I'll send you a PM T.

    Sharps Butt Plate Question

Yeah, looks that way to me too - it should clean up with a bit of filing and sanding. It looks like the butt plate on the 74 Pedersoli, which is also about the same size, though not as wide. Too bad the post office isn't delivering it today - I could be cleaning it up while house-bound. I guess...
