Has anyone tumbled their Balls in media ....

LOL! You guys kill me sometimes! But to answer the question, I've had RBs that looked like they needed a good tumble, but when loading and shooting i perceived no change in fit or function. So it's mainly a cosmetic thing. I found the best way to deal with the situation is to shoot up all the...

Who made this Navy Arms Piece?

One of the really nice features of the G&U guns is that the dimensions are way closer to original specs than say, Pietta. If it were me, I would send it off to a pro to have it redone, but it's not me. If money is of concern and you want a nice shooter, I'd oil and pack it away for the moment...

Who made this Navy Arms Piece?

That 'forlorn carcass' is a Gregorelli & Uberti version of an 1858 Remington New Model Army. They have been out of production since the early 1960's and have become quite collectible lately. Worth restoring, in my opinion. Most modern Uberti parts can probably be massaged to fit it. Nice score!

    Pyrodex Shelf Life

I've used Pyrodex over a decade old with no issues. The key is keep it in the ORIGINAL container and tightly sealed. If you have it in a damp are or plan on not using it for a while, simply put the original container in a gallon size Ziploc baggie.

Worst gun control laws of all 50 states, for starters. And that's just the tip of the iceberg. I don't think political discussions are allowed so I won't go there. And let's not forget 40-50 murders every weekend in the city proper.

Just Picked up a Santa Barbara 1858

The Santa Barbara was made in Spain. It's unique in the fact that it's ordnance grade weapon steel. Not a ton of them made. I snagged one a few years back and I ain't gonna say what I paid so as not to tick you guys off...LOL! Let's just say the LGS that was selling it had no idea what it was or...

reclaiming lead from car and motorcycle batteries

Personal safety aside, battery lead WILL corrode the living **** out of your barrel and casting equipment as well. I had a guy give me a dozen RBs he had hand cast from old batteries once. Never again.

    1849 As A First "Colt"?

1851 Navy or 60 Army would be my choice, depending on your hand size. The standard Navy grip can feel small to some. If you don't want to be bothered with a potential short arbor issue, I'd recommend Pietta, as they don't seem to have those problems. The pocket is small, has cap sucking issues...

    Making a revolver from parts

A year ago Dixie had the S&B in kit form. I guess like everyone else, common inventory is not so common these days.

    Making a revolver from parts

You would be money and time ahead buying a S&B kit and finishing it yourself.
